I opened 10 1989 Score football, 7 1981 Topps football, and 4 1983/84 OPC Hockey, and didn't get anything noteworthy. That increases everyone's odds, so there's a good chance there are some hot packs en route to some members. Thanks to Bill for putting this together.
<< <i>Anyone have the link to that program that can get the exact centering on a card? It was on the board a few weeks ago and I can't find it.
I do have a voucher, but in shipping alone it would be like $16, so I would wait until I have a bunch of cards. Either way, it was really cool to pull the Murray. It will be a nice story to share. >>
Get a fedex account (it's free to have one) shipping is much cheaper than using the USPS.

<< <i>Looking at it again, maybe not a 6, but I think and 8 would be a stretch. You never know. They're already pretty tough on '78s, and my rule of thumb lately is, whatever I think the grade is, it'll be one lower... lol >>
I'm hoping I get mine today. My UPS guy usually delivers at around 6:30pm. Yesterday evening I sat in my dining room with the front door open for two hours waiting to see what brown could do for me, but apparently there was nothing he could do for me.
just got mine.. 2 packs of 89 score and 3 packs of 81 topps.. didn't really get a single thing worth mentioning.. steve largent and ed too tall jones are prob the only things worth mentioning.. both OC though. fun anyways.. thanks for putting this together
My 8 packs of 1981 Football arrived today, on the second to last pack I pulled a Montana! It's 65/35 l/r, but it's a beauty! Subbing it for sure. That was about all as far as star power. Nice packs! Gum is very easy to take off the back of the cards, crisp packs! I'll share the rest of my BBCE junk wax results in a separate thread later tonight.
<< <i>Apperantly mine didn't ship until Friday. Guess they couldn't find a big enough box. >>
I just figured it took them a day to dig up and dust off the carp you ordered after they retrieved it from their off-site warehouse ...oh wait, didn't I say I was thinking of ordering some of that stuff myself.
I didn't get anything worth scanning/grading in my three '78 baseball packs. Only star cards were Rose, Stargell, and Brock RB. The Brock would grade the highest of the three, and it's a PSA 8 all the way. The Rose is razor-sharp; absolutely perfect except for one tiny fisheye on the helmet....... and the fact that it's about 80-20 o/c to the right. I did at least get a few upgrades for my set.
The packs and the cards were in great condition. Thanks to BBCE, and thanks to Bill for setting this up!

Purchased 10 1989 Score packs, although key rookies were already pulled, I decided on filling in my raw set. I didn't pull anything notwworthy. I also busted a 1986 Topps pack and a 1984 Topps pack, pulled no key rookies in the 86 but got an Elway,Singletary and Payton 1000 yard card. In the 1984 Topps pack, I pulled nothing significant. Lastly, I added two 1991 Stadium Club packs and got a Montana.
It's weird that the gum was on the FRONT of the card... in all of my packs, the gum was on the back. That's just really bad luck! I can't tell by the scan, how bad is the surface? There were no actual gum stains or marks on the gum backs of the cards. Just a very light dusting, that brushed and blew off very easily.
<< <i>I'll take one pack of 1984/85 OPC Hockey, and pull the Yzerman. I might pick up some more, Ill see by the end of the night and check back if I do.
Thanks! Patrick >>
Well, my one pack arrived today. I was a little bummed that the front of the pack was torn. Oh well, here is what I got.

The gum came off ok, the only issue is when touching the front of the card, you can feel the 'grainy' section where the gum was.. Is this the old nylon trick to get the grainy parts off?
Of my packs, 3 had gum on front and 1 on back...

With regard to the gum card, it can be cleaned up just fine, but when you run your finger lightly over the card where the gum was, unfortunately you will feel that it probably left an indent.

That's unfortunate if that is indeed the case. That will likely knock the card down to a "5" if graded won't it? Otherwise a nice looking card.
there are some major Gretzky players in the registry and a few who spend big dollars without participating in the registry. My ex stole and sold my 79' OPC PSA 9 Gretzky on eBay to Wally's a few years back. I offered him 8,000 last fall for it which he declined/never answered back. That card meant a lot to me and I kick myself everytime I think about it for not getting the hockey stuff out of the house. It's not even the best looking 9, but it meant a lot to me as it was a gift from my father. After that I dumped everything I could and didn't want to think about collecting until recently.
wow!! Nice Mauer looks like a solid 9 maybe a 10. The top right corner looks a little off but that might just be in the scan. Either way it is a great hit.
k sorry for the delay in posting... but here are the "best" of my results. The 78 topps for the most part didn't have great centering but did ok with a few of them:
Hockey I know nothing about but thought it would be fun to rip... from what I can tell off Beckett these are the better cards pulled:
Score - the Carter RC is (I see now) not a very good scan as the centering is much nicer than the picture appears... Top wasn't at all off center...

Well, I can say that I'm going to leave my 1989 Score unopened but I know eventually those are getting ripped.Good luck to all!
(3) packs 84 Donruss, even less.
I probably won't scan anything, thanks for setting it up Bill.
My packs arrived yesterday, all basketball, with some hockey cards showing through the back. I'll rip later this week to see what I got.
