And just to tease me, he just drove by again without stopping.
probably because the first time he drove by you startled him by not having pants on... he had to get his camera phone out and ready for the 2nd pass... should be on you tube any minute.. I am not sure I want to see it.. but I will be checking periodically
I have only had one BBCE order that was shipped USPS and it was just for a couple packs. My BBCE orders arrive on the 4th UPS shipping day like clockwork. This order is apperantly the one exception.
My 3 packs just arrived and I am pretty happy. For the other guys who bought these packs if you have no interest in putting the set together please let me know. I would be happy to buy or trade for the cards I need.
I got lucky with the centering, there were a few that were OC, but for the most part it wasn't to bad. The Walton card has what looks and feels like some powder on the surface...maybe from the gum?
If anyone wants to trade I have doubles of: 24, 25, 47, 51, 77, 82, 123
Scans:
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. Got my packs today.. So far I opened 1 '78 Topps (nothing), and 1 '81 Topps (Nothing) and 4 1989 Score and got these: Still have some to open, but I will get to that later this week.
Guess the odds of getting these guys in other packs is going down hill quickly.

to my disappointment, my order came today and the invoice was correct, but I received only 2 1989 Score packs rather than 3. I'll be posting those results shortly and have an email in with Steve, so hopefully he can sort this out.
I pulled these 2 cards from my packs earlier and wanted some opinions on what you think they would grade. The POP on the John Drew is 9/0, the POP on the Brian Winters is 6/1:
POP 9/0
POP 6/1

Rick - I'm assuming the snow is on the scanner and not on the cards themselves? Corners and edges look sharp on the scan. I think the grade will depend on how T/B centering is determined on this issue. Is it based on top border and the bottom of the logo?

The snow is my scanner and I am not familiar with these, I was hoping someone might know about the centering T/B?

Here's what I got from the first two of my 1989 Score packs. My 1 hockey pack had nothing. Hopefully Steve will be able to get me the third Score pack I ordered.
Here is what I pulled from the 2 '78 packs that I just opened:
A very, very OC Lou Whitaker rookie
A very, very OC Dale Murphy rookie
And an OK Eddie Murray Rookie.
I put the Pepe Frias in there because it was the most centered card in both packs. My question for all you professionals out there is should I submit the Murray? and does the Frias look like a Gem 10 to you?
For those of you who are collecting the set, I also have these: (in no particular order) 371 305 633 247 463 22 44 689 517 95 458 282 585 196 639 306 29 168 661 377 536 554 618 389
Unfortunately I think that Murray might get a 7 or 6 on centering alone. Nice pull though! I ripped an entire 1978 Topps box and never pulled a Murray. Pulled two Molitor RCs though. I hope someone pulls a gem Ryan! That's the big tough one in this set (my opinion).
I didn't receive my package today. All for the best since I wouldn't have had time to rip anyway. Tomorrow it's ON!
pdub1819: nice hit on the Murray - looks PSA 8ish to me... if that's the case it's probably worth grading. Not knowing what raw rookies go for you might get a fair price for it on ebay if you list raw amd call it a nice pack fresh NRMNT card.
Frias looks like a 9 or 8.5 to me... But I've never had much luck grading late 70's commons!

you don't think that falls within 8 tolerance? Card has great eye appeal to me and the corners look sharp - I would say 7 for sure with a chance of an 8.
Looking at it again, maybe not a 6, but I think and 8 would be a stretch. You never know. They're already pretty tough on '78s, and my rule of thumb lately is, whatever I think the grade is, it'll be one lower... lol
<< <i>Why would you sub the Murray if you are praying for a chance at an 8? >>
I'd sub it on the next $4.50 or $5.00 special - but that's just me. I for sure would not go out of my way to sub it. How much does a psa 8 Murray go for anyway?

After I looked at it again... I guess it is pretty bad oc top/bottom but the white bottom does not make it look so bad. It probably is a 7 on most days.
Anyone have the link to that program that can get the exact centering on a card? It was on the board a few weeks ago and I can't find it.
I do have a voucher, but in shipping alone it would be like $16, so I would wait until I have a bunch of cards. Either way, it was really cool to pull the Murray. It will be a nice story to share.

EDIT: GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!
Always looking for Chipper Jones cards.
Im a very focused collector of cards from 1909 - 2012...LOL
Jordan was Fleer.... not topps
if you get an 86 fleer in your Topps packs.. you may have an issue..
probably because the first time he drove by you startled him by not having pants on...

Looks like he's gained some weight though
<< <i>Guess I won't be ripping today after all. UPS guy just drove by. >>
Bill - Was yours mailed UPS because you added extra carp? If we just ordered packs from the rip, do you know if they were shipped USPS?
Mine will probably show up this evening. My UPS guy comes at about 7pm. He does use USPS unless you order boxes of stuff, which I did.
Unfortunately I'm going out to a bar to watch MNF with some friends, so no ripping for me tonight.

Cracked open my four packs of 1989 Score Football. Finally got the two cards I've always wanted to pull, but haven't yet.
These were back to back in the same pack:
Other highlights:
The other packs I bought are in excellent shape. I was definitely going to keep one or two unopened, but am considering leaving them all unopened.
