Do you think a good portion of current Forum Members............
.........don't really care about numismatics and simply use this forum to whine about eBay/Paypal/PCGS or how some local dealer runs his business?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Fixed.
Quite frankly the same could be said for most forums -- people use them to vent.

But it wouldn't bother me to never see another eBay problem post.

I agree

Yup. There's a few whiners here but don't we all do a little whining from time to time.

Those that seem to care more about numismatics seem to post less as they are smart enough not to be caught up in most of the drivel (I aspire to be like them...they are quite disciplined, imho).
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
To add my opinion, I think that the vast majority of the boards are made up of a combination of collectors and sellers, many are both.
Many of the, IMO, coin scholars seem to have left the boards or are to busy to post.
This creates a lot of 'Guess the Grade', 'What do you think of my newp...' & occasional questions about a particular coin.
It is much easier to create a bashing thread than an informative one.

No.
But some use those services more than others and it's human nature to express displeasure with those entities with whom we've had poor customer experiences. Especially when these businesses are 800-pound gorillas in their fields with little to no serious competition.
And by the way: my definition of "whine" is: "complaint or criticism which I don't agree with." It's one of the most trite and overused words out there... is it whining to mention that?
On the other hand, I have collected coins since around 1968 or 1969 (I don't remember any longer when I actually started).
While I haven't collected all those years actively, I have been pretty serious for many of them and very serious since 1982.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
as long as they don't rant!!!
I care about neither of those things
<< <i>I would not say that....But I would say that a good portion on here care more about what's on the label then the coin itself. I would say around 5 to 7 %. With a bump to 10 to 15 % if you expand it to be people who care what their coin is "worth" more then the coin itself...There isn't that much difference, IMO.
I care about neither of those things

I'd have a post and three cheet posts in here by now but I've
been all "wrapped up" elsewhere.
A few people might not care much about the hobby and only have
an interest in related areas but perhaps no one has no interest
in the hobby.
There does seem to be an inordinate amount of people who'd rather
complain about hobby related subjects than talk about coins. There
are lots of axes being ground that are only tangental to the hobby.
Some people might be surprised how few threads I open.
Ya' gotta love it all though.
At least you could post a interesting xray.
