Finding a '95 FH $1 for $500 even 10 years ago had to be a matter of being in the right place at just the right time. A belated, well deserved EWSUK!

Wow, Mike ... between the type set and that 1795 $1... I think that's enough to earn you an official "you suck"... image

edited to add... now if that was an 18/7-D we'd have to grill you like Keets... image
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free image

Makes me wonder what was there 10 minutes before you showed up.
Maybe some dude bought the 20th cent gold type set for $40. image

Super buy - but I my experience with flea markets is that coin dealers there buy low and sell high; I mean real high!

Just today , one of my customers found a candian type set for 100 bucks, flipped it to me for 250. oo for which soon Ill break it down and disperse it, heck 2 of the coins in the set alone are 300 bucks.

the best i ever did at a flea market was getting to know a dealer by the name of jack, this guy had it all, a friendly smile, integrity, honesty, and patience. a good person that is undoubtedly missed by anone that knew him.

I'm sure you can buy great stuff at any venue, though on the flip side of this story is the guy who came to our table in LB with a bunch of coins that he had bought at a flea market that he wanted to sell and all but one turned out to be counterfeit.

Cowtown? The one in Elmer NJ? Haven't been there in years since I moved, but a very cool place, not one that would come to mind when looking for coins, much like the Berlin Farmers Market.

Do they still have rodeo's there? Congrats on a great pick-up!

Really great acquisitions... congratulations. I have seen a few bargains at flea markets, but mostly overpriced, mediocre stuff. Cheers, RickO

That is a gemmy looking Morgan -- looks like a 65 or 66.

Yes - Cowtown, NJ. I used to live right down the road from it. Hit that market pretty much every tuesday morning for 8 years. The FH was my best score. I have been to the Berlin market as well. But Columbus up a little further north also had some good stuff.

No CC on the reverse of the Morgan just an S. But I do think it has chance at a 65.

The Barber dime has lots of color but lots of scratches

Counterfeits are the bane of the flea markets just as doctored, AT and overpriced overgraded coins are the bane of the coin show circuit. You just need to be able to eliminate those pitfalls though knowledge of just what it is you are buying. 30+ years running hitting the flea markets with many a score but knock on wood never unknowingly purchased a counterfeit or took a huge loss. I have however purchased coins at shows and then had to sell at a loss because I paid the "going rate" to fill a hole. If I am going to gamble my money odds are better at the market and pawn shops for me. The guy that tried selling you the coins more than likely would of been taken at any venue - be it market, show, TV, ebay - he just did not know what he was doing
