Quoting and vilifying me time after time is more a reflection on your poor character than mine 3. Can someone hook a brother up with the cliff notes version, please?

<< <i>Life is full of loopholes, finding them make you smarter than the next guy, not unethical. >>
Here is where you call pack searching a "loophole". You are building your argument that pack searching is a "loophole" and thus not unethical. Correct?
<< <i>You have not crossed the line searching for "hot packs" because you have broken no such rules such as tampering with the packs. Here is where you explicitly state that pack searching does not cross an ethical line. Correct?
<< <i>The excuse that the practice hurts the 12-year boy is a red herring meant to distract from the real issue you raise. >>
What I do understand is that the hobby does not need more people like you with questionable ethics. It needs more 12-year old boys and other kids to make this hobby grow and continue.
Of course, I agree the hobby needs more 12-year old kids. On the topic of hot pack searching, I simply argued that such a practice does not technically break the ethics line because such a person is not tampering with the packs and that the best solution to the issue is for the manufacturer to reconfigure how the packs are put together.
Is searching for Mickey "Mantel" or placing bids on items that have been placed in the wrong category unethical? I see no difference between those practices and "hot pack" searching--both are taking advantage of mistakes. So if you think hot pack searching is wrong I would also expect you to be consistent and give up those other loophole practices. (Not to mention sniping which most you do...)
<< <i>Of course, I agree the hobby needs more 12-year old kids. That's the problem. 99.9% of this community would disagree with that statement.
Your correlation between pack searching and eBay searches is flawed. Fact: Pack searching hurts the hobby by giving kids a bad taste and driving them away. Fact: Searching for "Mantel" on eBay does not drive kids away from the hobby.
Like I said, not crazy about the idea of pack searching but there should be an easy fix--making the packs weigh the same, etc.
Thinking of which, when I was a 12-year old I used to go through the drug stores cello packs to see if there was a 89 Fleer Griffey on top. Was that wrong? BTW-I bet 12 year old kids know how to search for those hot packs better than do the adults.

Maybe I don't understand the question, but I'm implying that they don't care. If they did, then they would obviously address the problem. But again, just because the problem exists and the opportunity presents itself, does not make it ethical to exploit it.
