Ebay strike set for 2-18 to 2-25

Earlier today I saw a thread entitled Why do people hate ebay so much.
Besides this I also noticed several other threads concerning ebay
including one that simply said to Google screw ebay which led me to
YouTube.

While there I noted many videos concerning ebay.
One was about a recent ebay Live workshop held in Chicago.

There are more people angry with ebay, especially sellers than you all can imagine.

One guy was so livid I thought he was going to have a stroke or a heart attack.
He sat in the rear on the left side of the room where the event was being held.

Anyway, Google screw ebay and oh, I'd say that the 4th or 5th link is a YouTube video.
Check it out and just go from there. From what I can gather there is a planned strike
or boycott against ebay whether as buyer or seller that I think you would all find entertaining
if nothing else.

Enjoy.

It's that icon Thiggy's wife (who was his GF at the time)?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

as long as there is greed , the strike will be worthless.

besides , if it did happen how many people would look around for low bids, and buy anyway.

its funny how people get so upset over ebay, like its (ebay) there right to have it. i've said it before ,if you hate it DON"T SELL OR BUY!!!

would you pay 6.00 for a gallon of gas? when a gas station at 1.65 is a mile down the street, or picket that gas station for lower prices?

So if there is a strike and no buyers then it sounds like a great time to pick up some goodies image

I agree with your first two lines, but I strongly disagree with the last two lines.

The reason is Ebay is NOT like your $6.00 gas-$1.65 gas scenario.

You see, there is no alternative to Ebay. Not too long ago, Ebay was the greatest place to sell merchandise. There is nothing close to Ebay at all. It's such a travesty to see Ebay screw up and lose their once highly regarded and respected place in the marketplace.

That is why people are so upset with Ebay.

Never had a problem with ebay as a buyer or seller. I think it's great! If you don't like it, don't use it.

well maybe i did go a little overboardimage , but there are other places to get what you want or to sell.
might not be what ebay can bring.

if ebay screws up , thats there business. unless your a share holder

but my point was ebay not a gov. agency ,its a business.

Whoa! That's way too simple a concept.....It's much better to either 1) Beeeaaach about what you don't use or 2) Beeeaaach about what you are using (and continue to use it) image

Man...I don't like the fees either but until someone comes up with an alternative plan (other than not selling) they have us by the ....well you know

A one week strike by some peed off sellers is a joke

Ummmm why don't we get together and decide on a day to strike back against the big oil companies...we can all not buy gas on a certain day and then...oh.....we already tried that

There is still no viable alternative to eBay for most product categories. The "strike" will be ignored by nearly everyone.

I struck a long time ago, but can only imagine how many ebay threads there will be next week.

great point !!! thats why strikes don't work on business, if they are the king, then you need a revolt !!!!

i think all these people that are upset should get together and start another ebay, its been done for years with employees buying or starting a company.

The only time you are going to see change in eBay is when the stockholders revolt and throw out the current management team. I'm surprised this hasn't already happened.

I have a little different outlook on ebay than most.

To me ebay is a tool, not a tool to sell but rather an inexpensive advertising tool. There was a day when you could spend a buck or less and have 100's of people look at your advertisement. Those days are gone. Just like any other tool, when it no longer works, I look for a new tool.

Its 2009, if you want to sell online you better be willing to "Toot Your Own Horn." If you list an item for sale on a web site(ebay or any other site), you still need to drive traffic to the item. You have to tell as many people as you can where to look. ebay is no longer tooting your horn..............

If I have to toot my own horn, I'm not going to pay a site to just for hosting the item for me and pay a commission if it sells. I'm probably not alone in this thought process. This is one of the reasons I started CZ.

To give you an example the top seller on the auction site is VA Coins, she sells more than I do, but she also puts 1000% more effort into promoting her items through emails, shows, phone calls...........she is out there "Tooting her own Horn."

Couldn't have said it better myself ... And it would not come as a big surprise if a good % of the sellers participating in the strike, have low DSR scores, with a history of "scre-ing" the buyers.

I did as suggested and Googled "screw ebay" and about 4 links down was a YouTube vid which lead to a whole slew

of others - some showing proof positive that ebay had been hacked a while back to Power Seller meetings at "ebay Live"

in Chicago. There were a LOT of sellers there that were obviously perturbed/ fed up with ebay nonsense.

Do some nosing around and you'll see what I mean. At any rate just note that there is a planned strike scheduled

as previously mentioned. This Mob was NOT happy in Chicago - let me tell ya!image

We shall see. Enjoy the vids. I think you all would.image

Sadly, I think that a strike would have little effect.

The only thing that will change eBay is competition.

I don't know. There's one particular video in which the ebay "dignitaries" sittin on stage, didn't look too darn cozy.

In fact, they looked nervous and sounded rather shaken, if you know what I mean.image
