It would depend on the market. If they stay at or close to the buy price I'll keep it. If on the other hand it could be sold for an obnoxious profit... it's a gonner.

If I buy a couple (no reason today should be that day) I'd keep them. And I wouldn't foolishly send them to PCGS to get the ridiculous First Strike tag on them either. Mint Packaging should be adequate and probably preferrable long term.

I don't like mint capsules. I like the holders much beter for viewing the coins. If you'd like to just send them my way I'd be glad to return them to you in a PCGS holder. --jerry

Just a difference in aesthetics. I should have expanded my preference to also note that I see no need for TPG grading of them. You guys who sell or do the registries with them have a different focus.

In contradiction, however, I was just discussing with a fellow collector how stupid it is for us to be sending Morgan dollars to TPGs for VAM designations on the tags when we already know the attributions as well as any TPG attributor does. The market of disposition is the bail out of the apparent hypocrasy. So basically, it is a matter of one's exposure to the market. If you are selling these things tomorrow and the First Strike gravy train still has some steam, I suppose you are obliged to participate in that patently silly thing.

I bought one and will keep it. I have an original High Relief $20 gold, and this new coin is kind of neat because it is a reproduction of the piece with diameter of the $10 gold coin. No collector will ever own an original example of the $10 diameter gold in UHR because the two survivors are in the Smithsonian. And given the backward, politically correct policies of that institution, the only people will get to see those coins very often are college interns and school children. Older collectors, like myself, who have studied numismatics for years, will be excluded unless we happen to be around during one of the rare times that the PC folks at the Smithsonian put them on public display.

Here is the piece I own. It is a green label PCGS MS-63. I've tried to up grade it a couple of times, but the deals just never worked out.

Yes, I am keeping mine. Also, I'm sure this one-per-household thing will be lifted within the next couple of months, so if you do plan on selling them, I'd do it quick. No maximum mintage amount.

Just ordered one and plan on getting it entumbed, and it being part of my estate.
Have allready told the kids none of the coins can be sold until their kids go to college.
BTW neither of them have any children yet.
So yes I plan on keeping it and maybe getting another one later on.

BillJones, IMO that coin is properly graded at MS63, and it is absolutely wonderful. If I owned it I don't see myself having the desire to submit it for upgrading to to trade up at all.

I guess you misinterpreted what I said. I've never tried to get THAT coin upgraded. I've considered trying to buy one in MS-64, but it's never worked out.
