Snowed in Seattle - any coins with a winter theme??

LakesammmanLakesammman Posts: 17,660 ✭✭✭✭✭
Prolonged feezing weather with snow is unusual here and a blizzard is forecast for later today. image The generator is tuned up and ready to go, I have 35 gallons of gas on hand, the 4 wheeler is parked at the top of the drive, the chain saw is tuned and the larder is full.

The REALLY bad part is the golf courses are shut down. I did find a driving range that is open until they run out of balls. image

Any coins/currency with seasonal themes?? If so, please do share, especially the WARM weather themes. image

It was -20 last night and still below zero now. I am still dressing the same way I do in summer as winter has not even started here.

    No sympathy here----

    8" of snow yesterday
12" - 18" more today and overnight (Lake effect)

This past Sunday, blizzard warning also with 10" of snow. At least it will be a white Christmas.

I spend last Sunday buying coins off eBay since I was stuck inside. image

First go around here in Oregon just south of the Tri Cities,WA 6 inches fell with the wind blowing 10 to 20 mph. Drifts up to 3 foot on the property. Then the temp fell to -14 which was a all time low for the date. A couple of days later 6 more inches fell and then the temp fell again topping out at about 5 last night. The latest storm is about 2 hours off according to the computer. This storm is suppose to dump upto another 8 to 10 inches. This whole thing is quite unusual for this part of Oregon. Sure glad that Global Warming has kicked in.....image

I actually love the snow - spent 15 years in MN and AK.

It's the wind that bothers me - up to 50 MPH with snow in our area tonight, potential gusts to 90 MPH in the cascade foothills 10-20 miles east of us. We had the top 50' of a 100' tree come through the house in 1993 and once is enough! There's still a little trunk-sized valley in the hardwood floor where it hit. image

Unusually cool here in So Cal today too---but played 18 holes with the kids in short sleeves.

Climbed Mt Ranier in August many years ago and the last several thousand feet were through an ice fog and 50 mph wind. Had 1/2 of ice on my windward side when I got to the top. Right now it must be similar to conditions you'd fine on Denali or above 8000M in the Himilayas. --jerry

Went out for a walk in shirtsleeves here in Tucson and was actually sweating because of the heat in our beautiful sunny weather!

When I lived In Seattle we always hoped for snow, since is is so unusual! I say - if it's below freezing, let it SNOW!

Glad you are prepared Lakesamman! You do have a rough driveway to get out of!

Sit in. Watch the snow. Start a fire in the fireplace. Open a bottle of wine. Relax and enjoy!

It is unusual. It's actual snow that doesn't melt in a few hours. In fact, it's been around for days now with more falling as I type. What could this portend?

I just posted this pic over on the World & Ancient Coins Forum in a similar thread.

    I MISS THE SNOW!!!

I lived in Kent, WA for 3 years and never saw clouds like that around the mountain. Awesome!

8 and 1/2 years in Omaha and not much snow, lots of cold wind, though! Coldest I remember was -67f wind chill factor (-37f actual temp).

There will be no snow shovelling here in South Australia for Christmas. Heck, not even in the middle of winter either!

This was just a few minutes ago on our back veranda

I'll let you know - no one is answering at the range this AM. image They are at the top of the hill and probably the last place to get plowed.

The storm was a big dud - thankfully. Just some snow and freezing rain, no high winds, power still on.

100 degrees! image When I get rich, I'm going to chase summer around the world and play more golf. image

It is very beautiful when it snows in the Northwest. We live on top of a hill east of Seattle, and always get more snow, which is fine with me. We have a couple of cords of wood, a nice wood stove to cook on, and a couple of bottles of Baileys with good Seattle coffee. No problem!

Here is a very rare Northwest medal, Tilikum means people in the Chinook language, and spelling elttaes backwards will reveal the Native American on the medal. This was made for the 1912 Potlatch Festival organizers, which was a smaller version of the 1909 Alaska Yukon Expo

    Yep - it's very confusing.

Don't know whether to reset the thermostat to when glaciers covered the midwest vs warmer when all the biomass that created the north slope oil was flourishing. image

Hello from the Dry Side! I used to be a customer service rep. in Seattle and the Puget Sound area. I learned to snow drive in E. Wash. and could manage MANY service calls in snow times. Hated it, Puget Soundia became too expensive and I moved back.
