thoughts on 29-P buff nick
A very pretty coin to the naked eye, I was interested in other's input. In particular are the spots under the feather area reason for concern as far as possible PVC. And what do you think PCGS gave this, while you're at it.

It should be 63 due to strike, but I think 64.

The coin has good eye appeal and is very nice.
I always have a tough time grading buffer nicks. To me, it seems like there is flatness above the tie on the braid. Don't know if this indicates weakness in strike or minor rub. So, either au-58 or ms 64.

<< <i> Strike a bit weak for a P-mint, IMO, though maybe that isn't unusual for this particular date?. >>
BINGO! The Wexler/Pope/Flynn guide book calls the 29-P 'a true stike rarity' and Bowers' Buff and Jeff book estimates that only 10% are either well or fully struck (w/ 0% fully struck). Look at some of the upcoming offerings on TT and you can see it can be even worse.
