eBay cancels my auction 2 days after listing ended??

I have a question for the board. Two days ago, I sold a 1999 wide AM cent on eBay via Best Offer (BIN). The buyer paid me in full via PayPal that same day. Then today, two days later, I get a notice from eBay that my listing was removed due to a "policy violation," and presumably they also notified the buyer about the cancellation. But since the transaction had already been completed AND I've already been paid for this, what's to stop PayPal from automatically giving the buyer his money back? I checked my PayPal account, and as of now, the money is still there. But I am worried. What should I do? Thanks.

I'd ship and be happy that I'm getting my final value fee back.

Empty your Paypal account and cancel the credit card attached to it. Make sure that your Paypal account isn't linked to any account that has money or overdraft protection. That's about it.

Contact the buyer, see if he has a problem with this.Contact PP see if OK to ship Remove money to your bank account. Ship coin with SIGNATURE confirmation. Similar thing happened a month back. I bought a $400 item, paid and received coin with no problem.A week later ebay mail says auction canceled but deal was done.Maybe some rule was broken and ebay was slow to catch. Worked OK for me....SO FAR..I did phone PP because it may affect my cashback but they say no

PayPal operates independently of eBay when it comes to auction closings. The only way they'd give the buyer his money back is if the buyer filed a claim.

Don't worry about. You just sold it for free thanks to their stupidity. I've won numerous auctions that were cancelled over the past few months. I did not get my $$ back and seller always shipped the coin without any problems. No need to freak out! Enjoy the money you just were given back.
  • Last week I purchased an item as a Christmas present for my son on ebay (not a coin). It was a BIN, with more than one available. I bought it, and paid via Paypal immediately.

Three days later, I got this from ebay saying the listing "has been removed by eBay for violating of one or more of our policies. Any offers or bids placed on this are now null and void. Because the auction was ended, you as a bidder are not required to complete the transaction. "

I don't remember seeing anything wrong with the listing, and now I can't go back and look to see what it might have been because it's gone.

I emailed the seller and he assured me everything was OK on his end. Two days later, I received the item and I'm happy. I emailed the seller again to let him know I got it and if it weren't for the ebay gustapo removing the option, I would have left him a good feedback.

It appears that every auction he had was cancelled. They looked OK to me.

Many times, I think they are going after the wrong guys. I think something should be done about the pages and pages of "replica" or "copy" or colorized Elvis, twin towers, etc coins that clog up the genuine coin listings. Maybe a separate category for non-coin (junk) and then remove those listings that in are in the wrong category.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. Meanwhile I was trying to figure out what I did wrong in the first place, and apparently I forgot that I can't put "MS60" in the auction title if the coin is uncertified. It's one of those new rules designed to "protect" buyers, even though it's kind of stupid, IMHO. After all, MS60 simply means "uncirculated." It is what it is. I figure eBay must have have some bots that automatically scan listings for such violations, as it's highly improbable that this type of thing would have been reported by a real person. But if eBay really wanted to be smart, they should be able to flag these types of errors before the listing gets posted in the first place. As an HTML/PHP programmer, I can tell you that would be incredibly simple for eBay to do, and would save us all a lot of headaches!

Don't be so sure- there *are* people who do just that.

Russ, do you know if paypal can hit an attached credit card or bank account in a dispute if there are no funds in the paypal account? I was under the impression that paypal is not authorized to charge either of the accounts.

Canceled auction? Frank, is that yo?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
