My Morgan Album 1878-1890..a work in progress.

DoubleEagle59DoubleEagle59 Posts: 8,433 ✭✭✭✭✭
Well, about a year ago I definitely got the 'Morgan Dollar' bug.

That's one of the reasons why I'm selling quite a bit of my other US coins.

Anyways, I'm trying to buy as high grade as possible (while still keeping an eye on the budget).

Some coins have been cracked out of their plastic tombs and some have never been graded.

When I have more time, I'll post the grades and I'll also take pictures of Album II (1891-1921)

Good luck in your hunt to fillthose slots, but remember the 83 n 84-S higher than AU is going to set you back some major bucks. the 89CC will cost ya a small fortune as well.

Ask one who has done this- twice!

would you believe Anacs graded the 79-s only as ms64? No PL evenimage

The 80-s has never been graded and it's not as nice as the picture shows. It has a lot of chatter. Probably an ms63, maybe a 64.

I thought the 1879-s was an easy ms65 PL. But Anacs didn't think so.image

Congrats on a nice looking set so far. I've got an 84S in PCGS AU55, but have filled the slot with an XF coin. Probably about a fifth of my books will not be filled with raw coins, but I hope to have a 100% complete set before too long (in the next three years or so).

Nice work! Though, I think Dansco should include two slots for the 1878.........8TF & 7TF.

1881-s was graded NGC ms66 PL (although the PL is not very noticeable)

1882-cc was purchased raw as an ms63. Ithink it's an easy ms64 if not ms65.

For someone who has only been at this for a year, you are off to a great start...

Love the overall look of the coins. Keep it up!

Just be mindful of those keys and semi-keys. They are a tough nut to crack...
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!
