Buying Jackson Spouse Coins!!! NOW FILLED - THANK YOU!
UPDATE, Thursday 8/28:
We're filled up. Thank you.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are looking to purchase a limited number of Proof Jackson First Spouse coins to fill our needs for inventory. If you're interested in making a few bucks, read on.
Terms:
You must purchase 10 Proof coins. We do not need uncs at the moment.
You must confirm with me first. Please do not do so through the forums, as I do not check PMs everyday. Please e-mail me at george@moderncoinmart.com, or call me during business hours (9-5, M-F) at 800-362-9004 x355. I only have a limited number of slots, so you must confirm with me.
Place the order on the day they go on sale from the mint. Email U.S. Mint order number to me at george@moderncoinmart.com. IF I DO NOT RECEIVE A MINT ORDER E-MAIL, I WILL ASSUME YOU DID NOT PURCHASE AND WILL ATTEMPT TO FILL YOUR SPOT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.
Ship coins to JMRC insured and at your expense within 2 business days of your receipt. Must be via registered mail or FedEx (if you have or can get insurance) only.
We will pay you $15 per coin over your cost (we don’t pay shipping to us) by our company check on the day we get the coins if it is before 1pm, otherwise the next day, payment by first class mail.
You won’t get rich but you’ll make a few bucks and you can rack up some bonus points or airline miles with your credit card.
We don’t need a ton of these, so act quick because after we get enough commitments, we’re done.
Thanks!
-George

to tie up 6100 dollars and risk the package getting lost. Then fighting for the insurance claim.
Do we atleast get a kick back if you get a 70.

<< <i>We have friends and other dealers that buy for us at no premium at all..... just to get the points on their card. The mint is already charging a steep price for these so how much of a premium would you expect? it's quite simple, if this deal appeals to you call George, if not, why make fun of the offer, seems childish at best.

If you have others who are doing this at no cost to you, then why offer the premium to us? I agree that the idea of making $125 on tying up $6000 for perhaps 3-4 weeks is goofy. Why dont YOU send me the $6100 + $125 and then I will buy the coins from the mint for you? That way you can tie up YOUR capital, and not mine.
Thanks,
John

<< <i>With regard to laying out capital, it is offset by the float. We have spent millions buying mint products from the public, and I don't think there was ever a case where someone did not get our check BEFORE the credit card payment came due....

Day 1: I order with U.S. Mint.....CC gets charged.
Day 7-10....My order arrives from U.S. Mint (takes between 7 and 10 days to get to my door if all goes smoothly with them)
Day 8-11....I ship my parcel to you via USPS Registered mail (usually takes coins from PCGS via registered AT LEAST 10 days to get to me, usually a bit longer)
Day 18-21....You receive my parcel
Day 19-22....You send company check (another 3 days minimum to get to my doorstep)
Day 22-25.... I receive and deposit check into my bank account (my bank holds funds on checks other than Government issued ones, for at least 5 business days)
Day 27-30....Funds clear, I scramble to make my CC payment.
So now we are talking about 30 days from start to finish IF everything goes perfectly smooth. I dont know what YOUR CC limit is, but I'd suspect its quite a bit higher than my $7,500. So please explain to me how even charging the $6,000 to my CC, EVEN if I do get it paid off in the 30 days to avoid finance charges is not "tying up my capital"? Suppose in those 30 days I come across a spectacular opportunity to make more than the 2% you are offering me? Suppose I have a small personal financial crisis in those 30 days where access to $6000 would have bailed me out? Whether or not im "floating" the cash on a CC doesnt matter....its still tying up capital. Like I said earlier....how about YOU send me a check for $6,000 right now, and I buy your coins for you? Then you pay me the tiny $125 "service fee" and we both win.

I have done these deals with George/MCM/John before and had NO issues with the checks coming quickly.
This particular deal doesn't appeal to me so I will skip it.
That said, gecko, you should realize your timing is off. Your CC is not charged until the USMint ships. When they ship more than $300/$400 (I forget which, but these qualify), you get free expedited shipping (FedEx overnight I believe). Therefore, your first 10 days are quite wrong. Try 2-3 days from card charge until you get them, unless a weekend/holiday is in the middle, then roughly 5 days.
If you have a balance on the card, you shouldn't be doing this. Why do things that have risk if the risk is too much for you? (you=generic term...not you specifically).
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
How can one say capital is tied up when you buy with a cc and pay it off???
As for the time line, you play worst case scenario in every step.
Get expedited shipping...virtually free.
They are paying $150 per coin over. You can ship all 10 for about $50 (flat rate box registered mail with insurance) so you are really getting about $145.
As for losing Registered mail, when is the last time you lost a a reggie??? Add a few bucks to the insurance value so if it does get lost you make a decent return.
I think I'll take John up on his offer.
I sell them stuff all the time and their check is one of the fastest in the industry. Last week I shipped on Monday and had a check in hand on Friday.
No risk with them.

$15 per coin over!!!! NOT $150. If it was $150 per coin, I'd do it AS MANY TIMES AS I COULD! You ARE tying money up even if you charge it. That is now money you have no access to should a need arise!
<< <i>
<< <i>You can ship all 10 for about $50 (flat rate box registered mail with insurance >>
I stand corrected.. You will only make a hundred bucks TOTAL on this deal. And if your credit card charges
interest on a average daily balance. You will probably OWE money.
If your credit card charges an average daily balance, starting with a zero balance, and no grace period after the charge, then you need a new credit card as that is utterly stupid to keep....even if it has rewards or not.
Afterall, most people wait to get the bill before paying....how many people charge something then pay it immediately (like in 1 day)???

No matter the merits of the deal, I find it extremely rude to barge into someone else's fair offer on BST. Readers can decide for themselves whether the deal works for them or not. There are PLENTY of way out there offers to buy or sell posted here, and this is far from the worse deal out there. Why the need to pick on Modern Coin Mart is beyond me.
How would I like it, if someone barged into one of my BST threads and started berating my items or my offers to buy? I would not like it and would tell the moderators to nuke those comments, because they have no place on this part of the forum. It is like being at a coin show where a $6000 fair transaction (no fakes, no cleaned or altered coins, no nothing) is taking place and barging in and telling them that it is a bad deal for XYZ reason. It is rude, boorish, out of place behavior. Adults can make decisions for themselves. The cards are on the table for this deal.
I have sold to Modern Coin Mart in the past, and had no problems. Again, readers can decide for themselves whether the deal works for them.
MCM: "We will pay you $15 per coin over your cost"
Seq: " We have some financial giants here...
"They are paying $150 per coin over. You can ship all 10 for about $50 (flat rate box registered mail with insurance) so you are really getting about $145"
Red Tiger: "I have sold to Modern Coin Mart in the past, and had no problems. Again, readers can decide for themselves whether the deal works for them."
I have also, and I am going to sit this one out.

Sometimes people on these forums drive me nuts. I think 99% of the people here know that MCM is a quality outfit. At the ridiculous price the Mint is charging for these, I think it's a fair offer for using someone else's money (the CC). Sure there's a risk in terms of when you get your CC bill, but if I had $6K of free space on my CC I'd do it for a $100 or $150.

Which throws this "That is now money you have no access to should a need arise!" right out the window!
I guess its just time to move on instead of hacking away at John because the "deal" doesn't meet "your" needs.

Are you dense? Would you tie up $6,000 for 30 days if you could make $1,000,000? There is OBVIOUSLY a risk/reward ratio (unless you are dense) that is beneficial. $125 profit to tie up over $6,000 is not it. At $150/coin, a $1,500 return on a 30 day freeze of my $6,000 IS worth it.
Based on my opinions, past firsthand business experiences and known reputation I would concur that John Maben is a positive dealer to work with.
One more thing...if you're bank holds all deposited non-government issued checks for 5 business days then you really need to find a new bank to work with because the current one you're using sucks.

If your bank is holding all checks for a mandatory five business days...that sucks, regardless of how many days a week the bank is open.
Personally I would much prefer a bank that's closed on Sundays and holidays over one that's open "extended hours" if it meant that funds from my deposited checks would be available later the same day or by the very next morning without exceptions.

ALL of my transactions such as this with MCM/John Maben Rare Coins have been postive. I have always been treated with respect and have received my check lightning fast.
To those of you who don't like the terms of the deal, why even reply to this post with some arguement? That's just retarded of you who just want to start something and bust on a legitimate deal.
-wes
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
i don't like at all the lack of respect shown to John and George...they are big dogs in the modern arena
big or small transactions, even returns have been handled by them for me BETTER than anyone i have dealt with, i would need to include wondercoin, but this is not about Mitch.
it is a way to get some miles on your CCard or other benefits. plus the $125 or so.....it's a trip to the PO and some gummed tape and a postage charge that gets written off.
Thanks
