I think the silks are great. As far as I know, this is the first silk set to include Frank Thomas. I had always wanted a Thomas silk card, so I had to jump on one. Does anyone know of any other silk sets that include the Big Hurt?

While waiting on the silks I've been slowly getting every mini back variation of the Cardinals players and a few of the non-spots cards that I like (Einstein, Nietzsche, Bigfoot and the Arch). Luckily I pulled the Arch silk from a pack

how much are silk commons going for? or should i say, how much should i be asking in trade for one? i keep forgetting to add that i pulled a lyle overbay silk card the other day. i didnt like them at first but they're starting to grow on me.

i would like to trade any of my relics for the baseball icons that i need (see a few posts above for my list)

Silks really depend on the player. I have seen some end for the price of a few packs...personally I would never be that desperate, but some (like
Frank Thomas' cards, can get very pricey). Player collectors eat this stuff up..and they should, these are really nice.

eBay Mammoth WTF???

I hadn't seen anyone mention this auction and was wondering WTF??? I remember seeing this go on eBay earlier for way more. Now this auction from what looks like a conartist saying there are 10 mammoths not 1. I am sure this is old news but how did this auction not get pulled on eBay?

Wow at that aviation set auction. That just flies in the face of reasonable thought. People were overpaying before when they were shelling out $60-$100 for the set. $129 is just... NUTBALLS.

I hope the buyer doesn't look up what the price on that set will be about 6 months from now.

A hot pack is when some dude goes into his local Walmart or Target, uses a measuring and weighing device to pick out the packs containing the "hit" card (a relic or auto), and then rushes home to sell the pack as a Hot Pack on eBay.

If you check the eBay feedback of these dudes, you'll see that these so-called hot packs always seem to result in the least-favorable relics and autos. E.g., if you buy a 2008 A&G hot pack, you're going to pay $10-$20 for a Richie Sexson jersey.

Actually there is no way to tell the difference between a relic and a GU jersey this year short of pack re-sealing. You could have a David Wright
auto in those packs...you think someone so dishonest to pack rape anyway is not going to try to reseal packs too?
