i mainly collect world coins, but i wonder what your favorite series to collect is?

    All of 'em (U.S.). Guess that makes me a hoarder.

    It's kind of funny. I know there will never be another Louis Eliasberg. Coins cost too much today. But the most heralded collector of coins this hobby has ever seen and who is the only one ever to own an example of every regular U.S. coin issue minted is worshiped by the hobby. The king of coin collectors

    Yet, today if you don't "specialize" you're a hoarder or widget collector. Isn't it ironic.

    Anyway I still get a thrill out of plugging album holes by date and mint mark and I haven't yet met a series that I don't like.

    At the moment it is Walking Liberty Halves. Those with some nice colors and in the 41 - 47 date range.

    Working on the shorty set and I have kicked and clawed my way up to #92.image This is gonna take awhile.

    I am all over the place. Filling Dansco album's, birthyear sets, 7070 in VF, Type Set, Rattler Type Set, 1878 Morgans, etc.

    Buffalo Nickels and Saints. Kind of hard to say I collect Saints when I only have three and my budget only alows me to add 1-2 per year, but I guess that's still technically collecting

    I like many US series but right now I am actively working on a large cent date set, clad quarter date and mint set (1965-1998), a Peace dollar date and mint set, and a sac date and mint set. The large cent set, as one might imagine, is a long term project. I go back and forth working on one and then the other. I like to have several sets going at once to keep from getting bored.

    Of course the half dimes are my favorite (and only) denomination, but series? They all have their attractions. From Flowing Hair, Draped Bust, Capped Bust and Liberty Seated, I love them all.

    Bust Quarters from 1796 - 1838 are my mainstay, but I also collect many other things including counterstamps and engraved coins, especially on bust coinage.

    My first Favorite series was Kennedy Halfs. But I've grown into Walkers and Mercs.

    Lincolns. earlier the better. Ive put together a very nice 1909 set (without the VDB mattie, thats in the future).

    Im reaching back even further now and working on the VD Brenner Lincoln Plaques.

    Still looking for the Brenner Lincoln Centennial Eagle on the Cliff medal.

    I love everything. Whatever I can get my hands on I appreciate.

    My favorite is probably Washington Quarters. The info like year and important stuff like that is very easy to read, and I really like the reverse design-not talking the State Quarters but I have most of them too, and I probably could have had all of them if I knew what mintmarks were before April of this year!

    After that would come Kennedy Halves, again, nice and easy to read!

    My least favorite is actually Lincoln cents. They are way too easy to have turn nasty on you, and I can't stand when they have black spots or different colors from damage. Oddly enough I have a high quantity of these, and I could feasibly complete the entire collection within the decade. I don't have most of the keys but I havn't really looked for them yet either! If they are all one color I like them, either red or brown-I don't mind when they look like milk chocolate. image I'm thinking of working on this set soon-they aren't very expensive except for the big keys, and the fact that I have such a high volume already means that I could spend a little more to get the keys I need.

    not really a series, but I like collecting type coins for my 7070 - provides a nice cross-section of US coins - stimulates my interest in finding out more about the history of a particular coin/series ie learned today that liberty-capped dimes (1809-1837) are rare in all issued years and condition, since only 5 years in its production that a million or more were minted and most were used extensively in circualtion.
    currently putting together a EF/AU/BU 18th & 19th Century Type Set; and CC Morgan Set

    just completed 3d tour to Iraq and retired after 28+ years in the US Army
