At least it wasn't a reverse proof...

Spotting? What causes that? Did someone sneeze on it before slabation?

I'll bet PCGS will buy the coin back from you.

    Sorry to see that.
    Looks like classic milkspotting.
Prior to slabbing, a rinse in acetone would have likely stabilized it, but otherwise, looks like this is one of the affected ones image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • How about a better picture for #2?!
  • All the more reason why I'm selling off my entire set.

I have a complete NGC set ( Including 1995-w ) which has not had a problem ( But I hear they di it too ) -
It is definitely a warranty issue. They wont mind cause its so new ... its the older ones they are not going to want to buy back.
    Good luck

I already did. It was a ton of work to constantly watch the set for signs of trouble and finding no problem replacements. I finally had it so most of them did not spot but gave up as a whole.

This is why I sold my enitire set of ASEs over two years ago. Its a heart breaker to pull out your collection every two months and see ANOTHER one of your PCGS slabbed coins get milk spots. imageimage

They still aint got it figured out.......before slabbing and/or after slabbing.

  • I thought PCGS had a dip to remove milk spots off a proof but not for the uncircs.

I'd be afraid... very afraid. People say even being sealed in those boxes didn't help. I know that's no help to you but "if it was me" I'd open them for a look and sell them. I'd think any buyer who knows about the spots would be wary of buying them unseen.

Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.

Some spot, some don't.... some of our members have been working to claim that $50K reward... have not heard of any solution yet. Conventional wisdom, (not always accurate) indicates the root cause lies at the Mint... and to date, no word from them and no solution has been found. Cheers, RickO

BTW you can send it back to PCGS for a spot review. If they cant remove the spots they will reimburse you for the 70 coin and remove it from the slab.
