Id wager 80% of them are 1900-1908

Hmmmmm, 27 lots of Indian cents ranging from $3000 to $4500.

My prediction? -------> 50,000+ unsold Indian cents.

Yeah you sell them individually on ebay for ONE cent, BIN (plus of course $4.50 flat rate shipping), stick them in an env. with a stamp. image
  • I would imagine they came from one very large collection or hoard.

As far as the auctions... I saw them as well, I wish he'd give an idea of the dates though, if they are all common 1900s and some of the very common 1890s cents they usually sell on EBay for about 75 cents each in Good Condition, even when some have partial liberty on them and are more in the Fine Category, maybe a dollar each if the mix is better.

As you can see here in completed items:
    100 Indians

    200 Indian heads

His buy it now price is high, at least in comparison to recent sales on EBay anyways, obviously at a coin shop they would most likely sell for more.

But if there is a really good mix from the 1860s all the way to the 1900s, even with most being from the 1900s, his price might pay off.... hard to tell without a more detailed description though.

Edited to add: I guess I was TOO honest in my description, I told the bidders what the dates were and I only got 50 cents per Indian!

More than likely the seller doesn't have them all in stock. He could easily buy them from other dealers to fill orders.

And at the price he's charging he'll make 200-300% profit.

40 years ago I acquired 5 rolls of them at an auction. Most were AG-G, though maybe 15-20 of them had full liberty. Earliest date in the late 1880s. Most all were 1900-08, with no dates with a sizeable premium being found.

My grandfather told me that he once bought 5000 Indian head cents in the 1940's and gave them out to kids at his store in Queens.
