I posted the last week when it went over $910 that it had broken out of a trading range. I don't chart it or worry about it but I watch it casually and can sometimes notice these things. --Jerry
you hold until the most "unexpected" person you know starts to tout gold as a great investment.......someone who absolutely would not touch it now or doesnt even know they can buy gold as an investment
The concept of selling gold at some point is to turn it into other hard assets that hold value (houses, commercial property, land, other PM's, etc.). There is no law that says you have to flip your gold into paper money and sit on it. Even if you do, what's the big deal with sitting on cash for a few weeks or months while you look for the next opportunity?
I'm holding palladium and won't sell until it's price is higher then gold's.
Demand for the metal is not going to do down significantly while the Russian stockpiles are running dry.... reducing global supply by 2 million ounces per year within a few years.
I still think the collapse will be deflationary, as in debt being destroyed faster then it's being created, resulting in price deflation in many asset classes, but it doesn't hurt to diversify.

Me too....I got a few on standby!!!!
Dont be in such a rush to sell
With the state of the economy, Gold is a great play and will bust through 1000 on its way to 1300

Any guesses on when we'll seeTHAT price?
I think it will happen before '09 is over. 12/13/2009 is my estimate.
<< <i>Gold, will move up.. it is unavoidable at this point... predictability is, at best, uncertain. Cheers, RickO >>

then you sell....
until then, you hold.
Just sold an ounce of gold to buy home heating fuel, a first.
Looks like a long winter, hopefully it's mild.

Natural Gas, for example, isn't high. The Cost to get it to us is. Look at your bills real closely.
Prices have gotten ridiculously high but we keep on paying. Meanwhile the National Debt is just plain unbelievable.
How did we ever incur this debt in the first place?
How did we go from the land of opportunity to our present state?
Seriously, things are bad and I don't see any quick fix.
Of course Gold will climb and what will it be sold for? Worthless pieces of paper with numbers on them.

(my model is based on random values and dates - bet it's as good as anyone else's guess).
