Choppy stepped out, so I will too, post #2

Hey all

I've been lurking around here for about two years now, just digging the show and picking up a ton of knowledge along the way. I'm not much of a coin collector, probably lucky to get $1k for what I own. My brother is more of a collector, his recent (umm, only?) big score is 30 reverse '07 ASE's, sent of to NGC (Yes, I know), 6 came back MS69 and 24 came back MS70!!. Nice score bro!! Good guy that he is, he tossed me one of his raw ones, seriously, he took it out of the holder, gave a quick "heads-up!!" and tossed it to me from across the room, just kidding, but he did give me one.

Is there a "You Suck by Proxy" award?

Just wondering.

You want to know about me!?, Well, where to start. I'll start at the end and make it quick. I am a retired Chief Quartermaster with the U.S. Coast Guard. I pulled the plug when I was 39, took 2 years off and got hired back as a civlian. I work as a Search and Rescue Controller in New Orleans.

Hurricane Katrina?

Right smack in the middle of it, remember the non-stop images of the Chinook helos bombing the levee break with the big white sandbags? They were picking them up 100 yards west of where I was working and dropping them 200 yards down the canal to the southeast. 6 days of glorious, non-stop, joyous insanity before I got a break!!

Disaster? Not for me, I worked 22 hour days for the first 6 days until I finally got relieved and got out of the city, it was the time of my life.

Well, enough about me

One last, for the 2 years I have been lurking around here, there has been one question that plagues and perplexes me. One thing that I cannot get a handle on figure out or understand. A puzzle wrapped in a riddle inside conundrum.

Would someone please explain to me this one thing;

What in the friggin hell is up with this MadMarty guy?

Anyone? Anyone?

Peace!!

Jim

Welcome to the swimming hole. As for Mad Marty,

He is a serious collector with eclectic tastes in coins

and medals. He has a wonderfully wild and exotic

sense of humor and has a constant companion, who just

happens to be a rubber chicken named Charlie. Mad Marty

is a perfect example, of what represents normalcy on this

While this Forum is heavily coin oriented, we all have to laugh,

let off steam and decompress, from the stress of the real world

outside. Mad Marty has , with his usual good nature, allowed us

to make him a long running poster boy for wackiness. In actuality,

he is a serious numismatist and a heck of a nice fellow.

And hey Mach 19!! Glad you chimed in!! Still need some Red Sox - Yankees tickets? Trade for a raw reverse 07 ASE probably not the fairest trade these days. In a few I will proposition you with another offer (hubba-hubba!!)
(and Mach 19, that's like wicked fast)

Do you mean the commemorative type, usually bronze like medals/coins? Their is one, if you're interested I'll find you one

Damn, we always talk about "old Guard" for me that's pre-80's, pre-70's is really going back, tell me John, do you know what a "Square Grouper" is? Did you ever catch one and if so what did you do with it? image

Hmmm, well I don't know, certainly not her, she is one right thinking individual, looks like she might get knocked off the crazy-trainwreck-pedestal by that young up-and-comer, Miley Cyrus, ehh?
