My latest submission to PCGS included this really sweet 50 cents. I plucked it out of a Bank of Montreal coin set. They graded it MS66.

    Here is very pretty looking cent from the same submission. PCGS PL67RD 1/0. The coin is also a heavy cameo, but not designated as such by PCGS.

    I've had this one for some time. It's got nice color, but it also has some evidence of circulation.

    I dont see any contrast between the devices and fields, let alone "heavy contrast". Is it just the picture? The coin certainly doesnt even look to be a cameo from the photo. What am I missing?

    Is it just the picture? Yes. In fact, I bought this coin when it was graded by ICCS as a PL66RD Heavy Cameo.

    My understanding is that for business strikes, PCGS gives PL and DMPL, but not CAM or DCAM.

    Is the 1967 PCGS PL67RD Canadian Cent proof or business strike?

    It's Prooflike officially. Canada doesn't do true proofs. So it's not a business strike, but a special strike.

    I think PCGS doesn't add the PL and DMPL designation to Canadian coins because of this. And they never add cameo designations like ICCS

    All the more reason to buy the coin and not the holder

    Think "bullseye" for target toning.

    I have a 1964 Canada Dollar graded PR67DCAM. So they do use the DCAM designation on Canada proofs.

    By the way, I'm not all that excited about the grade. I knew it was DCAM but it absolutely FLAWless...no foggy areas, no fingerprints, no "specks", no nothing!

    I was fully expecting a 68 and hoping, of course, for a 69 or 70.

    I have about 6 PCGS undergraded coins I'm going to take up with them.

    I just can't decide whether to send them in one or two at a time or dump the whole load.

    Which doesn't anyone think might be better "politicswise" image
    No,no- the kids and the cat are all right honey.
    It's just that I got my PCGS grades.
