Maybe "collectors" sounded too plebeian while "certified" is more hoity toity.

I noticed ... but in thinking about it, I had always felt they would figure out a way to leave collectors out of it

Yes, it was discussed in one of the poofed threads.

I noticed that. Not sure what the impetus was to change, but since they did so after the venture was off and running (and presumably after the CAC monogrammed towels had already been embroidered and hung in the executive washroom), they had limited options.

    Many happy BST transactions
  • They realized, because they had to record the coins they sticker.
By doing that they were certifying.

Also it leaves room to become a TPG grader down the line with there own slabs, should they ever become accepted as being legit..

I have found power in the mysteries of thought.

It is always a question of knowing and seeing, and not that of believing.

Our virtues, and our failings are inseparable, like force, and matter. When they separate, man is no more.

I noticed the change but not the thread.

    Why was the name changed?
  • lope208lope208 Posts: 1,960 ✭✭
Why would it go poof? This seems perfectly normal to talk about.

From the beginning, I thought that the "Collectors..." was misleading, but JA had a reasonable explanation for it. I think that the current name is probably more appropriate.

I noticed that. Not sure what the impetus was to change, but since they did so after the venture was off and running (and presumably after the CAC monogrammed towels had already been embroidered and hung in the executive washroom), they had limited options.

And what the heck would they do with the 15 million stickers that they purchased if they changed the name to the DAC, EAC, or FAC? image

I started a thread asking if they did in fact change the name, but it was poofed! I don't think it had any responses anyway.

Indeed - I made him that avatar long ago, it used to flip you off, but I changed it to present one of his "Dot Head" Kennedy's. I remember he tried paying me for making it for him, but told him no way as he had recently sent my son a goodie bag included in some PCGS boxes he sent me for free - great guy for sure.
