Kennedy Silver proof - opinions please (MORE Pics in post #9 & 11) - Russ?

Not great pics & it's still in the "fuzzy" 2x2.... but was wondering if this is something worth sending in for grading, or not? My guess is no... but I've never submitted anything, and I don't really know much about the series anyhow. Thanks ~

not sure, but reverse around the US of A doesn't look frosted. Even if it DCAM's, unless it is a 70, save your money.................Rick

Hard for me to tell from the pic Raq.
    Here's one graded PR69DCAM I have.
The reverse lettering doesn't show up frosty in the image but it is.

What 21walker said, 69 in a PCGS holder, $25 coin.

70 in a PCGS holder, I would guess at least a couple hundred.

Might be better off just buying a 70.

Valuation note: rolls of these are going on eBay for not much more than melt.

  • Here's a 78 in a PCGS PR70DCAM holder one of the few 70DCAMs I have.

2004 S Silver PCGS PR69DCAM Kennedy halves can be had for $20 or less on eBay. Not worth the minimum grading fee of $14 + return registered mail fee to have it slabbed. It's definately not a 70...

That is what I was wondering....
The fields are mirrored, the devices all frosty.... there is not a single break in the frost & not a mark on the coin... but I seriously don't have a clue what it takes to determine between a proof 69 & proof 70 coin. My only guess is the area below the eagles talon holding the arrows on the right - the left-hand side of the right-most feather (where it touches the next feather) is frosty, but it's kind of angled so it doesn't appear so straight on, when you tilt it it shows full frost though with no break.
  • Still in the 'fuzzy' 2x2's.... but I tried to get a bit better lighting ~

  • So, what's the average price that these go for raw? 4-5 bucks?? I don't know about the price I paid ($10 plus s/h)... but I was happy with the coin received (sight unseen w/ stock photo) ~ My daughter will be pleased to take it off my hands anyway image

Could be worth a try.... see if you can ping Russ... he would be the 'decider' for submission... Cheers, RickO

  • Here's the best "close-up" I could do to show the frost on the feathers on the arrow...

I would not send it in they are available for less than grading fees in 69DCAM on eBay and the chances of a 70 are very slim.
Fact is I bought a repacement 1989-S in PCGS69DCAM last week for $14.00 including shipping. The one I have is toning in the holder.

If it's a silver proof, it has to be worth at least the junk silver price, which currently is in the vicinity of 12 times melt.

I agree with the group. Not worth submitting.
