  I think a clash is an error and not a variety.

  Hey Larry,
  This one is an clashed die not a variety.
  It sure does have a premium so hold it.
  It will not let you retire, but I would assume that you could get twenty or thirty bucks for it if it is in decent shape.
  I do not buy errors, I only collect varieties so wait till a few more error guys chime in.
  In the meantime, do not clean it or pitch it.

  Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

  I think this is one of those coins that if there is enough of them, they could be worth big money; if not enough, it will be ignored as an error, and if too many, not rare enough to care about. But, it does give me one more thing to look for.
