Well. I got three returns today ! The first is a 1958 Bill Wade(Rams Qb) He signed on the back, I cant blame him, I found out after I sent it that he is legally blind.
Then i got the first two cards of the set i am working on this year(officially) The 88 Topps Football. Kevin Butler, Sig is hard to see because he signed on black jersey in ballpoint, One is personalized, Go Bears.
My next 88 Topps football is from one of my favorite Qb's;This guy could really do the super bowl shuffle Ladies and Gentlemen, The Punky Qb, Known as McMahon...
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
I had the biggest return day in my short TTM history today,I got seven for my 88 Topps set(14 sigs) 2 E-bay buys and some nice modern autos I picked up from a fellow collector for .25 cents a piece ! Overall I received about 40 sigs total today. Scans coming soon..........
A story for you since you collect 57's; I get back this 57 Topps today RTS. I just knew I looked at the right address, so I am thinking Wtf ? Then when I look at the name on the card it is Will Sherman and not Bill Sherman. Will Sherman passed away a few years ago. ooops.
I love following this thread. I remember doing this as a kid and remembering how exciting it was to get the mail box each day. What address list do you guys purchase? Do you send sharpies with your requests? I really like the idea of taking a picture (like the baseball) and sending it out. I have contemplated doing the NBA @ 50 team as well as the Steelers Super Bowl 40 roster? Best wishes for your ttm's. -Jeff
Thanks Jeff, I personally use the Meisleman list and Sportcollectors.net. I dont send sharpies with the cards. If I were sending a ball or helmet or something I probably would though.
Barry, nice '88 returns. one good thing about doing that set, you never have to worry about a card not coming back since they aren't too expensive. I have a '57 morrall rc out there somewhere that I'd like to get back. that set is really coming along. how many did you send out? I"m telling you, keep up those 59s, that will be suh-weet.
Jeff- I use www.startiger.com . and no I dont send any sharpie or anything with the cards. just in asimple cardsaver 2 in an envelope with sase and note. thats it.
Wow nice autos. Thats a really nice Tom Seleck Do you always send 2? Still waiting for my first TTM's but they are NBA guys so that might be a problem.
Me and another guy are doing the set together, I send two cards and he sends two cards. When we have about 25 returns or so we send each other our dupes. We split the set in half by team, should take half the time. We should be finished sending out requests by the end of this month, We started Jan 1st.
I've heard stories about Niekro, He is a toughie, I have heard if you disguise the envelope to look more like a business envelope and put some gravy on his biscuit he will sign though.
Congrats John ! I have had lots of Ttm's since I last posted, I just havent put them up. Mr. Charmichael signed "Hoagy" on my card. I got back Pat Summerall the day before yesterday for my 55 Bowman set I am working on.
One suggestion I would reccomend for those participating in this collecting is to use the Forever Stamps on your SASE with the rates increasing in May it would be bad to have one not get delivered for lack of postage.
Aside from the questionable Kevin Costner and Barak Obama I did get a good looking Staubach Thursday.
I collect Seattle Pilots autographs, 1969 Topps autographs, Signed Mickey Mantle Home Run History cards and have a JC Martin collection (he was my college Baseball coach) Doug
