MY Ebay auction was deleted after item was sold
I ran an auction and the coin was in a PCI slab. I listed it as "1892 Indian cent proof (red & brown PCI slab)". After auction ended and item sold-ebay deleted auction. They sent me an email and all the bidders an email saying that the auction was null and void. I called ebay and they told me that someone reported it. I guess some NUT that has nothing better to do called them.

<< <i>Why do I have a feeling someone on these boards reported it? >>
Thank You---Ebay told me it was deleted because I used the words PCI in the title. And to whoever reported it. Get a life.
To the loser who got my completed auction deleted. Mission accompolished.
<< <i> Obviously the title is against ebay policy, in order to protect against the scammers. >>
Thanks for the reply. Adding to the title "PCI slab" is not scamming. It is telling the buyer that the coin being auctioned is in a PCI slab. And obviously, it is against EBAY rules. EBAY knows nothing about coins. They should hire someone who knows something about coins.

To me PCI isn't one of the scamming self grading companies/individual at home. But the term PCI slab grants it more of a "certified provonance" that ebay is trying to protect buyers from.
PITA

I'm in full agreement with your statement & I'm surprised that they have not done so.

Get a life? Like posting this whiny thread and then complaining about someone reporting you. Talk about wasting your life away!!
And, NO, I didn't report you.

That is not ebay's business plan. they rely on input from buyers and sellers reporting auctions. Should they hire experts on lawnmowers, pianos, 17th century flemmish manuscripts and everything else they allow to be sold? --Jerry
1)The auction was completed and I had a buyer. Even though I unintentionally broke the "rule" and mentioned PCI in the title, at that point there was no need for anyone to report this auction, to get it cancelled.
2)The EBAY rule is stupid. Why wouldn't a buyer want to know (in the title) that the coin comes in a PCI slab.
3)The person who reported it (a board member?) is either NUTS, angry, or really does need to get a life.
Edit to add: and they probably reported it before it closed but ebay got around to deleting it after it closed. I've seen that happen many times including things I've bought.

if you unintentionally broke the rule, i guess you learned your lesson here. There are certainly reasons for people to report these auctions, as they don't comply with ebay rules, are a detriment to unsuspecting buyers, and the hobby at large.

don't like the new rules? then you don't have to list on ebay, it is that simple.

there is a large group of people here that have been reporting these auctions, so take your pick of "suspects"
personally, I wouldnt even THINK about buying a coin on E-bay, and can't believe anyone does!!! Just relist, and the same sucker may buy it. Is that so hard to do???
PM sent.

Yeah, man. Im with you. Whenever I attend a show, I ALWAYS look for PCI slabbed pieces, cuz I know what kind of quality coins they certify! Now shut up and pass the shroom soup!
I sure feel like the scum of the earth.

<< <i>Do you feel dirty using eBay ?
I sure feel like the scum of the earth.
My guess is that if I opened my own coinshop, my overhead would certainley exceed 6% of my sales, and I wouldnt have 300 people look at one of my coins in a 7 day period. But hey, those are just assumptions!

I reported an auction last week was before it closed and they totally ignored it. My biggest concern here was not that it was a PCI slab but that the Title said an NGC coin when no NGC slab photo existed in the auction.
The name is LEE!

1) You don't know when someone reported it, it could have been long before auction was to end. As for a "need to report it", it is against the ebay rules, as they stand. So, if someone else can't put PCI in the title, why should you be allowed to? Did you not know about the recent rule enforcing NOT mentioning slab names unless they are on the approved list? It has been all over these boards, and ebay, for months.
2) Yes, it some ways it is. In other ways, maybe it will curtail a lot of the self-slabbers who neglect to tell people they are self-slabbers and their "MS70" is really a "POS-45".
3) The person who reported it (and, ebay has a lot more people than there are on these boards so it may not be a board member) is actually within their rights to report an auction that breaks the rules. If they don't, they just allow the encouragement of those auctions that break rules.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Of course, ebay also requires you to "completely and accurately describe" the item you are
selling.
<< <i>Perfect together---Ebay and the jerks who have nothing better to do than report auctions like mine >>
Not sure why the person who reported you is a jerk. You broke the rules. I'm not saying it's a good rule and I agree that eBay should hire some people who know about coins, but if you don't like their rules, don't play on their field.
Edited to add: Whoa, this thread is 2 1/2 months old...had no idea.

I myself judge the coin not the slab maybe you don't have the skills to do this.

<< <i>There are rats in all walks of life. At work. they will run to the boss on any little thing even if it is a trivial matter. These same types are here and roam these boards. What difference does it make if a seller has a small mistake in an otherwise straight foward honest auction, that would be only a minor infraction of the NEW Ebay rules? These rats apparently have nothing better to do in their trivial little lives. So they become the policeman for EBAY. These rats know who they are. I have no respect for them. >>
