<< <i>The standard will continue to loosen as PCGS plays to catch-up with NGC for Modern Market Submissions. Very bad news for modern 70 bullion collectors. >>
Why would they play catch up? That would significantly reduce the premium associated with the name brand. The mint has worked very hard to improve the quality of it's collector coins over the last 10 years and it shows with a continual increase in 70's at PCGS.

Because of the almighty dollar. Recent history suggests that NGC is grading three bullion pieces to every one that PCGS grades. People want 70s, and PCGS is now making them more available to lessen the submission gap.
Wow ... I'm sure it was a dealer & all coins had to have been hand picked for this submission, because I don't see any First Strikes 20th $1. Somebody knows what constitutes a 70 PCGS grade...

The $50 Gold Anniv. HAD to be sealed to get the Anniv. designation. YET, I don't see a graded Rev. Proof $50 ?!?!? How can that be ??
Likewise with the Silver Anniv. Needed to be sealed. There are 12 Proofs, 11 Rev. Proofs and ONLY 2 MS !!!
As usual the big shots get the special treatment.
Someone should ask PCGS to explain how this can happen. Or maybe it's a given you can open your boxes at a show look over the coins and submit what you want. Let me know if this is standard practice, because I'll start doing it.

Submitter could have requested a minimum grade of 70 or 69 for his bulk submission ... any coin that did not grade 69 or 70 would have been returned. Good point though ... I agree, this submission needs some clarification.

<< <i>It is possible that someone hand picked the best out of a large batch for submission. >>
That is not possible since the only way to get a 2006-W and a 2006-P Proof designated as 20th Anniversary coins is to submit them in a mint sealed box.
It has to be a true view submission since the cert numbers are not sequential indicating that the coins were graded at different times.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

have a really good eye for what a 70 looks like. May even
be using a grading set as a reference. >>

Not sure i understand the silver and gold eagles appearing on the same submission. Aren't they different service levels/fees and therefore required to be on separate submissions?

Hoard the keys.
I know Wondercoin has had success at doing this. There is one time I got 18 out of 20 70's by doing this as well.
Believe it or not there is some merit to the 70 grade.

of 70s ;-)
why is a 70 even special when the majority of the coins are all
lock 69s if not 70s?
such a silly game to buy coins in plastic graded 70 at prices
that are significantly higher then a 69.

Not so for the 20th Anniv $1 ... they were minted in late 2006 & prone to milk spotting ...

A silly game yes. But as long as people pay a premium, there will always be people trying to get the grade.
