I cant see enough of the reverse and there is not an obverse image, I think AU 55 or so from what I can see.

There we go. I'll say its in the AU range too, but that big flash reflection makes it a bit tough.

Quite dark and PCGS does not like dark coins, but I do. I will guess AU-58.

I'm at a stronger 55. The flatness on the eagle's wings and on the knee cap still tell me its a circulated coin.

AU58 wouldn't surprise me, either, but I'm gonna say 55.

Looks like some rub, AU 55 or 58.
But still better looking than most BU coins, in my opinion.

He posted the image tag, but there was an error in it so the image did not come through. So I just copied it into a post and

Hello everyone, thanks for your opinions, but no one guessed yet probally due to my bad pictures, still trying to figure it out.. I have been on vacation for a few days and have been looking at my coins and playing with my camera ,always to tired to mess with it when I work all the time, anyway I will post some new pics and hope it helps, this coin is very hard to photograph in the plastic, I wish I would had taken a pic of it before sending it in to be entombed. To me the best thing I like about this coin is the field, like glass, but the toneing covers it up. every angle in the light changes the looks of it. I guess it would be better if a knowlegable person could see it in hand... And I sure am enjoying my vacation !!! Thanks ... Mike :2Bee

Just a great coin. Thanks for sharing. MS63. Wouldn't surprse me to see it in a 64 slab. Won't go higher because of what appears to be cabinet friction on the knee and darker tone.

Let me know if you ever want to sell it. She is a looker.

It is not a proof based on date diagnostic. Guessing from the photos provided I think that is a briggs 3-C. The large 5 over small 5 appears to visible from the last photo provided.

I'd guess they were real tough on you and gave the coin a 50.
If that's the case a regrade is in order.

One must see the coin to believe the grade. I think I have a near identical coin to the one pictured in this thread. My coin has proof like surfaces thus no luster. Also a heavy irrisdecent toning that makes it impossible to photograph and makes the coin best viewed from angles to see its beauty. It is an 1862 seated quarter that is graded MS61.

I hope the OP will share with us the original grade.

I really appreicate everyone's opinion. I really thought it was a proof, but with only 10 made, if I remember right, I knew there was not much of a chance for that, so I sent it in with the regular number, just kind of courious what it would look like without the toneing. The pics do make it look worse than it is, the rub and all, here is a pic with the grade and one of the 5.. I wonder what kind of a price it would have Thanks.... Mike ...

Great coin, thanks for revealing the grade. I am not surprised to see it in a 62 holder, even with the rub, it has nice eye appeal. The date comes generally well struck, and of course the diagnostics are for a business strike. Not that misatribution doesn't happen, this one was in reverse, slabbed as a proof but actually the much rarer business strike, someone with sharp eyes grabbed an 1886 labeled as proof when it was actually a much rarer business strike at FUN in January.

Thanks for sharing the grade. The coin is worth about $425-$450 net to you. Several 62's have crossed the floor at heritage at $517 including juice.

The coin has a high mintage of over 900,000 and examples are available.
