What Happened to the Ebay Boycott?
Judging the number of listings in the US Coins category, jumping 25-30,000 today, I don't see that there are many who will be joining in on the boycott.

1 is that ebay put out the 20c listing day, right?
2 .... aren't the "new fees for saving" scheduled for 2/20? If so, wouldn't the boycott happen then?
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Now there are two.

LOL
No, that's not Meg, or Laura. Just one beautiful, simple woman who ought to be on a U.S. coin.

That's Rosa Parks leaning on a 56 Ford Fairlane.
Its been a huge success
<< <i>Same thing as when people try and boycott certain gas companies for a certain period of time: not enough do it to make a difference. >>
I agree. Many boycotts have to last months to over a year to be effective. One week is like hitting a speed bump.
<< <i>A thought just hit me....Teletrade should see a decent spike from guys like me, and others, needing a 'gotta buy coins' fix >>
Problem is: you'll pay out the rear-end for it!!!
<< <i>Ill say it here now. I am done with fleabay. I am opening my own website and am not even going back to ebay. Im done. This is not right nor fair. I dont care that they are a buisness trying to make money. they suck, they suck, they suck. >>
Dang, why not buy my under spot auctions before you leave?

Whether or not the planned boycott will be successful in affecting eBay's bottom line remains to be seen, but auction veterans say this degree of seller backlash to eBay fee hikes and other changes is unprecedented.
"I've been getting about 400 e-mails an hour," said Valerie Lennert, an Anaheim, Calif., doll-clothing merchant who became an unofficial spokeswoman for the boycott after posting a call-to-arms video on Google (GOOG, Fortune 500)'s YouTube.
Past eBay boycott attempts have fizzled, and this one may too, Lennert acknowledged. With millions of individuals selling on eBay, gaining critical mass for any organized action is extremely challenging. But simply getting eBay's attention is a worthy accomplishment, she said.
"There are a lot of people who are really upset, and if we choose to go somewhere else as a group, there won't be an eBay anymore," she said. "We don't think eBay understands that. They think they're invincible, and they don't seem to listen to what we need. Even if listings don't go down, we're reached the main goal: to let them know how upset we are. I'm pretty sure they know that at this point." <<<

<< <i>The boycott will do absolutely nothing to ebay... it may make some feel good, but impact will be negligible. Cheers, RickO >>
Any financial impact on Ebay is really beside the point IMO. Giving some bad PR to Ebay and letting them know that a lot of people
are upset with them should be the goal. What happens in the long run is really more important than a one week boycott, the anger
people feel is not just going to go away after a one week period.

<< <i>I know it wont make a damn bit of difference to fleabay, but it does to me. I will not pay my hard earned money to them anymore. I will not. I hope others are as pissed as I am. >>
Won't you at least use them to advertise your site? As I read their rules (been awhile), the restriction on promoting another site pertained to ebay stores not auctions. If that loophole has not been closed, it is only a matter of time.
A general statement for those that wont do anything:
I know ebay wont give 2 chits about the boycott, but when we the people are having to deal with this, and some say hahaha this wont change anything, Your right, Its because people like you wont do a damn thing to change it!
All these people saying it means nothing and its a joke are the jokes. You spend your money and time and wont stand up for what you believe in.
Have some backbone!
Ebay has done much to tick me off over the years, but the site has done much for me as well. Too bad Yahoo auctions did not hold on a bit longer....
<< <i>Its not about the money. Its the principal. >>
Do you mean the principle?
They will still generate 100's of millions in fee's, guess it's just a message.
We need a serious competitor, hopefully sometime soon.

Yahoo Auctions were very successful for sellers but not for Yahoo as their business model is built on selling advertising. Auction site management is labor intensive and the advertising revenue just didn't cut it for them.
I did very well on Yahoo and I do miss it.

Okay, I won't.
