If it were cleaned, there are no visible signs (in that picture) ... it could have been ...and is now 'aged' a bit... However, based on only the obverse and what I can see... I would say no. Cheers, RickO

It's possible it was dipped and re-toned but the color looks old so most likely it's all good.
Methinks the pennies that did are very very rare and have a tracible history.

That's news to me. Is this a technique for copper only?
Seems the only technique I have encountered is AT in an attempt to conceal the hairlines. And, those coins usually look AT'd over hairlines.
It's either a high grade or it was a very well done recoloring job.
