Maybe this has been kicked around here before, my son brought it to my attention
that the first spouse coins will have Hillary on one eventually and if she wins the Presidential election, Bill will be the first man spouse to be featured. They will both be on both the President series and First Spouse series.
If it's been said here already I apologize.

let's keep Hillary's medusa-like characteristics out of this...remember that this is a coin forum

The door has been opened, let the political bashing begin.

It would be quite a scary thought, however, if Billary ended up on our coins.

I think she is just about all used up so by the time they get to her she will be a candidate again.

In other words:
A new president will be elected in November 2008 and inaugurated in January 2009. In order to be included in the Presidential Dollars program:
a) he/she would have to die in 2014 or earlier
b) he/she would have to be predeceased by Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush.
Not a likely scenario!

i just lost my dinner...and all respect for you longacre!
Oh my. My, my, my. Oh geez. Longacre. Oh my.
Maybe your business is good when the rest of us get fleeced, but I support the fair tax. Better yet, let's have money backed by something finite, like gold for instance - so that politicians have to be accountable for spending *our* earnings. Novel idea, huh?
Oh, to keep this coin-related, here's a coin:
A real advocate for women's rights - not an enabler for a sex-addicted serial sexual predator.
I knew it would happen.
In other words, since a president must be deceased for two years prior to consideration for inclusion on the presidential dollar, does this also hold true for the spouse coin that is in conjunction with the presidential dollar? In other words, if there is no presidential dollar is there also no 1st Spouse coin?
If so, then neither will get on either of the coins.

She is a vile person.

Not sure how true that is. Kennedy was not dead for a year and he was on the Half. As far as Hillary if my wife has her money and power then I would consider myself lucky. As far as Bill I love him as a speaker but do not think he deserves a coin of his own.
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I doubt she's ever imitated Monica. Maybe show a pic with her tongue hanging out.
I think it's going to be Clinton or Obama.
The country is not happy with Bush or republicans in general.
Wouldn't surprise me if we get Clinton for 8 years then Obama for 8 more. ...Coin

<< <i>The terms of the Presidential Dollars program are clear: featured presidents have to have been deceased for two years, and they must be portrayed in sequential order of their term in office.
In other words:
A new president will be elected in November 2008 and inaugurated in January 2009. In order to be included in the Presidential Dollars program:
a) he/she would have to die in 2014 or earlier

Hmmm... are the (a) and (b) statements listed in the program or derived from reasoning? The way I read the first statement, I see this possible scenario: if we issue Prezzies all the way through Ford, and Carter is still living, writing books and nailing up houses, the series will be stalled and no coin will be issued for Reagan until at least two years after Carter dies. Is that right? Could this series go on for a looooong time?
P.S. Let's all ensure that this board doesn't melt down in November, shall we?
<< <i>Not sure how true that is. Kennedy was not dead for a year and he was on the Half. >>
From the Presidential coin Act:
‘‘(E) LIMITATION IN SERIES TO DECEASED PRESIDENTS.—
No coin issued under this subsection may bear the image
of a living former or current President, or of any deceased
former President during the 2-year period following the
date of the death of that President.
But the question still stands, if a non-qualified (the qualifications are pretty severe!) former president does not appear on a presidential dollar, will this automatically exclude the spouse whether living or deceased. Keeping in mind that Andrew Jackson did have a wife but she died before he entered the WHite House and therefore is NOT included on the 1st Spouse coinage.
