In the meantime there are some pretty cool 5oz silver reproductions that pop up now and then on ebay. I have snagged a couple:

Wow. That's a surprisingly attractive and accurate repro.

Thanks, it's 5 ounces of satisfaction for the budget restricted collector.

    Shouldn't that be a 16 oz-er?

Ok, I had to look it up...

So if the coin is a troy pound, then it weighs 12 TROY ounces (which converts to about 13 regular ounces).

Ditto on that, I would not mind owning a few of these.

If the mint made a 5 oz and a 10 oz, I'd buy a few. They would be cooooool.

don't convert avoirdupois to troy, it's meaningless because PM is not weighed that way. but you should clarify w/ eBay resellers who sell by the "pound" or a fraction thereof, if you feel you need to to make a buying decision

Back in 1988 or 1989 (if my memory serves me correctly),
    the US Mint made a 6oz ($199.50) and 12oz ($325) silver
proof (I believe) Commemorative for America In Space.
If I'm not mistaken, I believe they also had mintmarks.
