Now the Chinese crooks are toning the fake early dollars....

USA Coin 1796 Silver Dollar $1# EF$$$$ Item number: 320206001039
Not certain how to link. While an obvious fake, due to the off-center bust, it is otherwise well made.

I'm curious to see the reply back, if any.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
This is death to the high-end coin market.
I don't agree, the people in that segment of the market know better

OK, I should rephrase that. It is the end of the high-end coin market for me and I'm sure a few others. Of course I am a budget collector who has never paid over $800 for a single coin.

This is the real danger because they will then enter the hands of “Joe average” and his descendants – the headaches for collectors and small dealers will be endless.

I told you.....it has the die characteristics of a 1795 BB-51.
It ain't a genuine 1796.

It's also "AC" or Artificial Coin and that's the major issue. AT can sometimes be dipped off a coin but AC is forever.

<< <i>I see the seller has ended the auction early and canceled a $5000 bid with the explanation "does not want to sell". There were 4 bids not canceled and they were from the same person (shill?) as the amount is the same for each of the 4 bids.

The seller is aware of me
I bid five grand and wrote the seller that it would be wise to end the auction. I also wrote ebay and told them through "live chat" that this coin is a counterfeit. I hope others continue to do what I did. Risk a negative and retribution for doing what is right. I think the seller must have agreed with me since he pulled it before eBay did.

eBay reps like a good laugh like everyone else.
I'm not sure it was smart to let them in on your little game.

And since eBay has competition in China, guess who is paying for the Chinese sellers to screw us....
BEIJING (AFX) - The Chinese unit of US online auction service eBay will scrap all sellers' transaction fees from today, amid market pressure from local competitors offering free services, including Yahoo-invested Alibaba.com, the Financial Times reported.
eBay recently raised fees in the US by 50 pct for goods worth up to 25 usd.
Ebay China had repeatedly waved aside challenges by Alibaba to withdraw its charges, saying in October that 'Free is not a business model'.
However, its Chinese auction website sharply reduced its charges last year and recently began waiving transaction fees for the use of local escrow or PayPal services, the report said.
From today eBay China will scrap transaction charges while requiring sellers to settle deals using those payments services.
'Each market is different...Chinese people are very price-sensitive, perhaps more than any other market,' Lillian Liu of eBay China was quoted as saying.
'It is very important for us to lower the cost for sellers and to encourage them to offer safe payment,' she added.

Support of any kind only encourages such behavior, not a good idea if you ask me. You're basically telling him you know it's fake, but it's ok that he's doing it and you'll buy one from him cheap.

As long as they can sell the coins they will keep producing them because they will continue to make money from people willing to buy them for $10.
The counterfeiters still make plenty of money selling each coin for $10, and are happy just to sell them at all.
I should say I have known some very nice and ethical chinese, however in a couple billion your are going to get some bad apples.. the fact they are all on Ebay, just sucks
