fatman, that is one of my favorites in your collection. I would love to own it someday. image

The only quarter eagles I own are Indians. Here are a couple of them. The 25D needs to be re-imaged, for some reason the color on it is difficult to capture.

    That looks like a $5 rather than a $2 1/2.

Sorry, but the only two I have are holeys, on the Holey Gold Hat. I don't have decent pics of them, but they're in this small "collage" picture.

An 1856-S Liberty and a Classic Head (for which I forget the date; 1834 or '35).

    image

I still don't have any US gold in a denomination larger than $3 for the Holey Gold Hat. Need a $5, at least.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

I did a set of San Fran quarter eagles of the 1860s and 1870s. Sold them all a few years ago. This is hardly the rarest or most valuable of the group, but it always had a nice look to me.

Here's one for ya! A 1911 with a strange and nearly transparent 'D' looking marking where the mintmark should be. Any ideas on what caused this? I'm at a loss, myself.

Funny. This is the thread that got me looking around at dealer's sites trying to find a $2.50 Indian I liked in my budget.

Found this on the Harlan J Berk website and bought it as an AU50.

    Got a quarterly freebie w/Trueview.
PCGS put it in an AU58 holder.
