struck from the N10 and N11 dies. Is this coin a proof ???
Nice even brown and an incredible strike.
Very tasty chocolate, at that.
And another ditto to those who said it resembles a proof.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Either way, I probably will not have enough money to purchase it.

I like the coin, but not in a 5 holder. The big carbon / discoloration spot in front of the ear is a real eye-catcher, and I don't think it is a planchet flaw. The 5s I've seen might have a small carbon spot, maybe two of them. If there is no carbon on the coin, typically, you see a noticeable contact mark on Miss Liberty's face, cheek, or jaw line.

To me, a RB is not necessarily beter than a BN (especially when a BN looks like this!)

LOL... I was thinking the same thing!
Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.

Every single 1855 Large & Half Cent I've seen has mushy denticles and soft stars, usually between 2:00 and 5:00 or 6:00 on both obverse and reverse. 1855 has most consistent poorly struck Braided Hair Copper, yet the denticles are complete, and only one star is minutely incomplete.

I agree. The edge of the rim at the denticles are just to sharp and the rim is to flat for a bussness strike.
