Just got my first ASE for change today!

I was at the gas station and he handed me back a pretty badly worn 1991 silver eagle looked like EF,was pretty cool too,never seen one pretty wore out like that,made my day!,I'm going to keep giving it for some purchase some where.image

    i suppose its possible but i've never heard of one of these circulating.....dont they have like $14 worth of silver in them? why would someone give them @ face value??

    Just so people can see whats out there,anyways $14 worth of silver isnt gonna break me to keep it in circulation,and just wondering what kinda look the next guy is gonna have when he gets it.image

    One of the girls working in the gas station here took one in. She asked me if they were really worth one dollar or did she get took. I told her to stick one of her dollars in the register and put the eagle in her pocket.

    Good point WoodWalker.... I tell my cafeteria cashier to watch for all 'out of the ordinary' coins... but have never seen a circulating ASE yet. Cheers, RickO

    If it really is worn a lot send it in and get it slabbed at PCGS. One of the low ball registry folks will pay good money for it. Probably much more than $14.

    I had a fellow route driver borrow 2 dollars to cover his COD money for the day. I guess he spent too much at lunch. Anywho the next day he came in and paid me with a 1 dollar bill and a 1992 ASE which looked like he had just dug it up from the back yard.

    about 3 weeks later when I was about to ask if he had anymore (didn't want to seem to excited at first) he was popped for a positive drug test. And terminated. Makes me wonder now where that ASE came from....

    With all the counterfeit coins coming from China, hmn? I've seen a few on ebay ASE's that is, that were bogus, maybe they are trying to undermine our economy as well? image

    I once stopped at a gas station. In 20-20 hindsight I now realize the station attendant was penniless. The only change he had to work with was a roll of quarters he opened and they were all silver. He seemed to have no choice but to give them out as change. He even asked me what dates I preferred. Stupid, stupid me! I had junk rolls of clad quarters in my car and could have swapped with him or split the lot with him. What must have been going on or what I could have done sunk in later.
