Susan B. sure ain't winning no beauty contests!
some of the state quarters are butt ugly!
and the presi's ain't all to attractive either!
Maybe the mint needs to go back to the classic designs
Collect raw morgans, walkers, mercs, SLQ, barber q. Looking at getting into earlier date coins pre 1900s.

<< <i>It ranks up there with other badly designed coins, i.e. anything 'Walking' to include halves, dollars, and $20 gold...and while we are on the subject of ugly coinage, lets go to the $5 and $10 Indians too.

Another vote for the wyoming quarter.

"Sou Mangueira......."
I agree with bear the Ike dollar is gorgeous in superb gem grades. I am also a huge fan of the 1973-S silver proof "brown" Ike and have been hoarding them for quite some time now.

You see it in the Anthony Dollar too.S ince he was the Chief Engraver, he did what wanted to.. I say The Susan B. Anthony Dollar is the runner up, for Ugly.
I Think Frank was a bit disappointed hat his Liberty design got shot down by the Feministas.
I'm surprised you dont like the largenesss of the size -
Remember they were introduced to be "silver dollars" --(primarilly to keep the casino's in Vegas supplied).

Well, you just chose the 2 most beloved US coin designs that have been produced, the Saints and the Walking Lib Halves. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, but... if you dont like Saints or Walkers, what do you like?
<< <i>How can anyone think this is ugly?
Mmmm....purple haze---it's not just for fans of Jimi Hendrix.
<< <i>This is the ugliest!
wow, somebody please tell me who that's supposed to be.
*edit* nevermind. It's eunice kennedy

<< <i>I would have to say that the new presidential dollars had little to no creativity when designed.... just plain horrible. >>
They look like the Shell gasoline "Mr President Coin Game" tokens from 35 years ago...

I think the Mr President Coin Game pieces exhibit extremely good art and manufacture.
Take a look at a few of these in hand. Like most all Franklin Mint products they are very well done.
I like Ike. Gasparro did about as good of a job with it as he could with the subject matter. I don't like the bicentennial design but it's not awful either.
The new dollar coins I've seen are not very attractive though perhaps they'll grow on me.

I like Morgans, anything Seated, Flying Eagles, Barber reverses, Drapped Busts, Heraldic Eagles. I guess the Art Deco type designs really do not appeal to me at all. I also forgot to mention Peace Dollars and the Eunice Kennedy Commem as other designs that I simply cannot stand. Peace Dollars=glorified silver rounds worth melt...not that I would not sell one for a profit, but I would not pay more than melt for one.
And I think there was another comment about the reverse of the Ike being nice as it was a patch for the Apollo mission. I would be more inclined to agree if the patch were accurately and FULLY represented. Most of the smaller details of the patch were left out of the coins design, a mistake IMO.
