I wish it was winter so we could make it into ice blocks and skate on it and then melt it in the springtime and drink it!

Not true at all. Sorry.
<< <i>Seeing that Beckett has the market share for newer card grading over psa, and now they have a legitimate authentication...potentially a big pair... >>
It is a big pair, especially for non-membership based auto authentication. It will most likely steal a good market share's worth of auto authentication from PSA. Whatever.
The fact of the matter remains, the market is based upon card grading, not auto authentication, and grading shiny modern for investment purposes is like investing in tech stocks in the '90s. A quick thrill. As soon as people catch on the population report, 100 more BGS 9.5s surface. JSA will have no affect of BGS's inability to accurately measure vintage, PSA and SGC will remain the "go-to-guys" in that department.

It's now 11:42 AM and still, nothing has changed. So guess I don't know much either.

<< <i>That news is not as big as this
Watch Me >>
Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk),
At home as it is in the tavern.
Give us this day our foamy head,
And forgive us our spillage,
As we forgive those who spill against
us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer, the bitter, and
the lager.

BSG has a share of the modern market, but PSA still has 1.5 times the combined Beckett listings of graded cards on Ebay from 2000 to present. There are so few cards that get submitted for autograph certification that this really isn't a big deal. People who were likely to use Beckett before will likely still use them, people who were likely to use PSA will still use them. Maybe SGC is ticked, but I'm guessing they realize the small volume that autos generate and really don't care either.

Amen.
If you think this is big news then I guess you thought it was big news when CDSNUTS announced he was now a power seller on ebay..
were they dipped in chocolate?
cast in bronze?
<< <i>ask psa if its big news??? >>
You need to change your sig line...you no longer use JSA/SGC...you use JSA/BGS!
<< <i>ask psa if its big news??? >>
I'm sure they knew about it before you did, so it's nothing "news" worthy to them.

Agreed, PSA and SGC will remain the vintage grading company of choice....what happens after all desired vintage are all graded?
Sure there may be a lot out there still, the questions are how much and how long ...
<< <i>PSA seems to have about two thirds of the modern market so I'm guessing they will hang around. >>
2/3 of the modern market of what? not grading, that is for sure.
<< <i>psa has 50 % of the market in grading. >>
MINT has 10%....what's your point?
<< <i>ask psa if this is big news? >>
Since JS was with PSA before - I'm not expectin' much there in the way of comment.
I'm not experienced enough in the hobby or have the business intuition to absorb your news.
Could ya elaborate "why" you feel this is really big news for the hobby?
Thanx
mike

Just curious, a couple questions...
1. Where do you get your statistics from?
2. Is that 50% overall or 50% of modern cards...i would guess their market share of current stuff to be less than 10%
