<< <i>I'm more than certain PSA would say , that is a pretty big deal .

Well . . . maybe not in public and maybe not right this second .

    And so . . . The Battle Begins .

As far as the hobby is concerned , I think this is big news . >>

    Anthony

    It's hobby news for sure.

Unfortunately the original thread on this topic is gone but it was expressed like it was gonna rock the hobby world.

Truthfully - unless that battery acid I drank in '97 has totally warped my brain - this has little impact on me and collecting.

I asked itsinthegrade to explain to me why this is so absolutely important but no response.

What am I missing? To me - at best/worst/or who cares - that's all it means is some money will be going to JSA instead of PSA/DNA - otherwise? What?

    Yea, No doubt . .

As far as rockin the Hobby world . . .

I think not , But I guess I can see how many could get over excited about it . .

Especially if they are not big fans of PSA and would just want to make it seem like the greatest thing since sliced bread .

Couldn't be that big of news , cause I hadn't even heard of it before today . .

    Not sure what that says?

To me it means that the savant who types up the flips may have made a mistake.

People here criticize PSA like they're composed of a bunch of Saints grading cards and the system was ordained by the Almighty Himself.

Companies - ALL of them - make mistakes - if ya send in enough stuff - ya gonna get crap from time to time.

    PSA makes mistakes...

    GAI makes mistakes...

    BGS makes mistakes...

    SGC makes mistakes...

    I make mistakes...

    mike

edit: the grading is a VOLUME business - now if everyone wants to spend 30 bucks a card with a 60 day turnaround - so that a grader has ample time to cover all the bases? Then - perhaps - errors should not be tolerated as much.

    I agree . . .

I sure would like to be a fly on the wall when some of these mad shipments come into PSA or BGS .

When it is all said and done , I wonder if the grade and the authenticity are decided by one person alone , or does it move down a line and maybe be dedcided by let's say 3 people < Shrug >

    thanks!

  • I did some searches on ebay, and I must admit psa does grade more modern stuff than I realized, but not 50%

The biggest difference i found was in searching completed baseball for chrome over $100 where there were about 4 times as many bgs as psa.

Overall, though I would say it definetely is a lot closer than i realized, but bgs graded cards definetely sell for more than psa on the big modern cards.

    Interpretation:

"Thanks for all the responses" = Thanks for feeding my overwhelming need for attention!

"I still post on beckett boards almost every day" = I post on beckett to add to my overwhelming need for attention!

"A lot of tools on here to say the least" = I love sausage!

"I will have bigger news next week so stay tuned" = I will continue to feed this board more crap so I can try to stay the center of attention! My farts smell good.

Not really. He probably found out because he was an SGC/JSA dealer, and was probably told not to send anything further in for the time being because of the impending announcement.

no way is that true>? BGS biggest supporter got suspended? WOW

the thing with BGS is this.. most new collectors to the hobby, youngsters, collect the new stuff, and they are drawn to Beckett mainly because of their name and magazine...

when they become more seasoned, and more advanced collectors, they find out the truth about BGS and eventually move on.....

what veteran collector chooses BGS over PSA? show me that person and i will show you a naive person with blinders on....

I think PSA/DNA is better. JSA has had some shady dealings.

    Let's try to summarize:

    1. Spence has left SGC to go play with the kiddies.

    2. Beckett grades a lot more modern cards than I thought.

    3. PSA has roughly three and a half times the amount of cards for sale via Ebay than SGC/GAI/BGS combined. But I'm sure BSG is holding it's own in the luctrative modern market.

    4. Itsinthegrade business just got a lot more efficient so understandably he is pumped.

    5. The vast majority of us here wouldn't consider sending a valuable card to SGC or BGS so we could give a flying rip.
  • I'm not sure what all this means but I'm definately quitting the hobby because of it.
  • rube26105rube26105 Posts: 10,225 ✭✭
haaaaaaaaa-its the end of the world don

ok ill take him up on that offer-HEY PSA-IS THIS BIG NEWS?-WE'LL ASK CAROLJ LOL
  • Oh my God. Collector's Universe stock is down 20 cents. The world has taken notice to the incredible news that BSG and JSA are now one mighty juggernaut. PSA is trembling at the feet of the mighty BSG...I must listen to the little guy in the superman outfit, thumping a Beckett price guide...I guess I should dislodge the two BSG slabs I got as gifts from under the legs of my coffee table. It's gold everyone! Gold I tell ya!
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

THANK YOU. I have been holding on to a stack of Beckett holders and since they are impenetrable and have had no clue what to do with them.
