Well, guess who bought it? Cnotes10000. That is the same guy that bought my 1993 Finest Ryan PSA 10. That guy must be loaded. Is he a member of these boards?

  • i thought it would go for more, but i would be pleased.

    Heck, yes!

Just can't fathom dropping this much money on an '86.

I mean, I dig Nolan Ryan just as much as the next guy, but ...
  • cnotes10000 has bought and paid a lot for newer psa Ryans
  • Does anyone know who cnotes10000 is? I heard that it might be Tom Seaver, any truth to this?

For the price of that so-called 10 you could instead own a sharp PSA 8 Nolan Ryan RC, plus his second and third year PSA 8's as well, and have money leftover to have a fine dinner. Then fill up your car with gas after dinner, drive home to rip open your '86 Topps rack case that you bought from the BBCxchange. You could then buy a 10x loupe and card saver 1's to send in your newly opened cards to PSA and hope you get the next Ryan 10.

That is a PSA 10 post. Good one!

Heh, the guy who won also recenty paid $100+ for a 1990 Donruss Ryan in PSA 10.

Heh, I bet when this guy wants to order chineese take out, gets Chairman Kaga on the phone and has an Iron Chef flown out for the evening.

  • Watch. This time next month the pop on the 86 Ryan in 10 will be 20+
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)

Anyone check to see if there are any other POP 0 PSA 10 Ryan's waiting to be slabbed? We can all rush out and hoard up sharp McDonald's, Coca-Cola, OPC, and other obscure issues of his card in the hopes of getting the next $3k PSA 10 modern card.

That's basically the game right there. Find the next 0 pop card of a hot set registry and go to town. I don't see the attraction at having cards slabbed that outside the slab are virtually worthless and then pay thousands for them. I bet these bulk submitters pays people to go through the registries to find these hidden "gems" so they can buy 100 card lots and get the first 10.
Currently completing the following registry sets: Cardinal HOF's, 1961 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, 1980 Pittsburgh Pirates Team, Bill Mazeroski Master & Basic Sets, Roberto Clemente Master & Basic Sets, Willie Stargell Master & Basic Sets and Terry Bradshaw Basic Set

This actually doesn't seem too insane to me. First, he didn't pay $3,000+. Second, that card is a pain to get in a 9, let alone a 10. Dings aplenty right out of the pack thanks to the sucky red paint and thin card stock. I busted 5 boxes just to end up with three cards I felt had a shot. Got back two 8's and a 9. For my time and energy, just outright paying too much for a 10 would've been even-Stephen.
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

well, no luck on my attempt to pull the 3rd psa 10. i'll guarantee mine is more presentable (front and back), but a 9 nevertheless...i'm thinking resubmission. oh well, that is a chance you take.

Well, now it is only worth $2,500 -- so it's not quite a big card.

    Ha
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • Both 10's had visible problems though. I wonder how a truly 50/50 centered front/back card with no white showing would do.

Or am I just dreaming and people really only care about the grade on the holder?
