<< <i>Which terms do you consider to be unreasonable? >>
Stock photos combined with no returns on 70s.
Any policy which combines stock photos and no returns is entirely unreasonable, IMO.

Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.

That's a true statement, also. The thread does illustrate some things NOT to do
Thanks for the laugh.

Well, the good news is that he covered it. The bad news is that he probably cut his high bids in half in the process because many otherwise interested people will not bid with those terms.
That's an awfully high price to pay to "cover your assets."
His terms weren't explicit enough for me.

GO STEELERS
why waste your time?
buying from him almost guarantees a problem.
If you wan't to see how NOT to write up a listing, here it is
However, the “stock photos” crap and ridicules return policy are two of my personal pet-peeves.
If you’re selling 100 Army surplus shovels, and you use one “stock photo” to represent the lot…that’s fine (e.g. you’re getting a shovel similar to this, they’re all about the same condition)
HOWEVER (did you notice the really big “however”?) when it comes to selling collectables, those sellers that show “stock photos” of glorious brilliant Uncirculated coins and then deliver a pile of dateless buffalo nickels and wheat pennies from the 50’s (no ’55 doubles included) are just bait and switching… IMHO.
Also…. What’s up with the crappy return policy? With all the auctions I’ve ever done (I haven’t done them in a while but), I had one guy that didn’t like the lot and wanted his money back.
Also… EBay’s rule that you can only dispute what you received if “the item is significantly different” is completely pathetic… who decides what “significantly” is? How about if I win an 1878 CC Morgan in PCGS MS63 condition ($1300) and he sends me an 1878 CC Morgan in a PCGS holder but it’s in MS62 condition ($275)! Is that one point “significantly” different to the invisible 18 year-old EBay guy or ‘Fair Trade’ dude looking into my complaint?
<< <i>It would depend on the item, but most likely no. >>
Aye.

The above terms are way too unreasonable!!
You can't expect someone to wait for an email confirmation from you (the Seller), not allow them (buyer) to use paypal and make sure payment is on the sellers door step within one week. The buyer has no autonomy over when the SELLER contacts him/her and when the USPS delivers.
I almost always ship next day (even though I state 2x a week in my email) and I pay instantly or within 24 hours worst case scenario. I have been told that I ship and pay very quickly.
I bring the above points up regarding my belief of acceptable shipping and contact times because I feel these terms are extremely unreasonable from a time standpoint.
I would never commit to a purchase from this seller because there are too many expectations this seller insists that are out of our control as buyers.
If the terms are unreasonable, walk away.

Ultimately all that matters with all opportunities is the coin, though, and if there was a piece well beyond widget-dom that had a carefully indicated "not a stock photo" in the description, I would still buy.... Using a buying ID, of course, and with a less than easygoing attitude when it came time to give feedback.

I agree, as tough as it is to do sometimes, I keep all of the negatives out of my listing. The troublemakers never seem to read them anyway.
<< <i>He/she prob. has all that for the 2% deadbeats, ... doesn't apply to you. At least he/she spells it all out right up front. For the right item and if they have good feedback, I wouldn't hesitate.

agree with that but it does move others on to other things, if the item was a "gotta have" and feedback was fine then yeah
<< <i>WE DO NOT USE PAYPAL >>
This would annoy me and caufe me to only bid if it were an item I defperately wanted/needed.
<< <i>Pictures are Stock Photos... >>
This would garauntee that I would not be bidding.

<< <i>I wonder if anyone is going to send this seller a link to this thread.
I would if I knew who he was, If I was doing something that significantly decreased my sales opportunities I would want some one to tell me.

Yeah, but with the attitude shown in those terms, you'd probably just be blocked and ignored.

This one eliminates any chance of me bidding.
<< <i>I love the auctions that the seller doesn't use Ebay checkout and you have to fill out all the information on another system already in Ebay and PayPal. I have to really want something to even bid on those auctions. >>
Totally agree. Unfortunately I usually don't figure this out until after I've bought the item. --jerry

No, as I said, it is his fine print. I will not do business with anyone who sets up a timetable that is very favorable to him and then tries to hold me accountable for things that are out of my control ie. the USPS and when he contacts me.
There are tens of thousands of auctions on ebay I don't need this type of headache.

He's in Indiana, and one of the largest sellers of bullion related items of all time.
Probably does more volume at most large shows than half of the tables, combined.
Accepting Paypal would only further erode already thin margins on much of this stuff.
