HOLY CHIT! You know my boat?
Thanks!
Can't wait to hear what plansim says about your boat.

Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
Naw, just looked it up on the Coast Guard registry. As you probably know, it is part of nautical lore that a boat should not be renamed upon purchase, unless the owner wants to risk bad luck. That theory didn't work with my boat, which I renamed about 2 seconds after buying it.
I am a former Michigander, but for a while I sailed in Barnegat Bay, where half of the catboats in existence must live.

You know, I thought of that after I posted.
I've always renamed my boats and never had any bad luck. I don't count a ten year-old sail blowing out in 40 - 50 bad luck; that's fair wear and tear. Barnegat Bay has a very active Nonsuch fleet.

Thanks for the chance
What brand was it?
I swear by Hood. My boat had the original 15 year old main on it, and lasted thru storm after storm and a whole season in the Caribbean until a killer near-gale (Force 9+) off Cape Canaveral caught me from the stern before I had a chance to douse it. The North agency in LIS (near my homeport) didn't even want to replace it, which I was willing to do...they just repaired it!
Obligatory coin-related item: I had the mast pulled when it went on the stands the first year I owned it, and there was a quarter on the keelson - but only clad.

Sobstad. BUT...it spent six of its ten years off-shore with the previous owner. That sail saw the life of thirty inshore sails in that amount of time.

Bob
