gotta love the card coallation! geez. i hope someone gets a box full of Gwynns! reminds me very much of 1988 score ripping packs. one box i ripped had 22 Mattinglys, 11 clemens....
<< <i>A little wear on my box corners, maybe an 8.5/10. >>
I just got my box from UPS, I don't have time to open it right now.... But it looks identical to the picture you put up HeritageAddict..
Kind of disappointed in the condition of the box because of it being pulled from a sealed case.... Hopefully the cards are in better shape than the box..
My box has what looks like humidity damage from sitting in the case wavy top and bottom. Has great color and good corners can tell it has been in the case for 24 years.
pulled a gwynn that is a strong 8 maybe a 9 Got a couple of other possible 10 Stars Ryan, Rose, bench, Molitor, and Murray all these could. Will look at them closer later and may cull them. Will probaly set them aside for the next 5.00 special.
Under a 10X loupe most of the cards on the bottom edge are heavily chipped so may not send any of these in. If I do they will be stuffed ina bulk or 5.00 special and see if I can slide them into 9 or 10 holders.
what does a sandberg psa 10 rookie go for now anyone know? thanks
Fred
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
3 Nice Pete Rose 1 Ryan 3 Raines 2 Nice Jenkins 4 Boggs Rc's
I suspect that the run of Boggs I mentioned in an earlier post continued into this box (as did the run of Ron Jacksons and Onix Concepcions). The Jenkins is the only 10-ish card (other than a couple of commons) that I got from any of the 3 boxes. It really pops.
So for 3 boxes, I got a total of:
6 Boggs RC's (all 8s or 9ocs) 2 Gwynn RCs (9 and a 7) 1 Ryno RC (9)
Good day, Ripped mine on Sat. No Gwynn 1 Boggs damaged 2 Ripken 7's or 8's 1 Seaver Maybe a 9 1 Ryan 7 or 8 4 Bench 1 Maybe a 9, 2 7's or 8's and 1 damaged 1 Jackson Maybe a 9 No Ozzie 1 Yaz 7 or 8 No Molitor No Winfield No Murray 2 Schmidt 1 7 0r 8, 1 Damaged
And 500+ Commons Certainly nothing to write home about and pretty disappointing, but gambling is always a Risk !!!! Neil
Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!
A Ryno with a big crease down the middle, I just about cried.
I had a lot of cards that were damaged by moisture, warped and wrinkled. ..the Box was severely warped. Why would they even send out a box that looked like that?
Lots of cards with a large crease.
This is the second time I got moisture damaged goods from BBXCE.
Trying to complete 1960, '61 and '68 Topps baseball sets...raw
Bummer that the crease was on such a sweet Ryno. I had a few cards with that exact same crease too, and somebody else said is was always a middle card in each pack. Topps must have had some lousy sheets.
The warping of the boxes and cards could have been the result of sitting in a warehouse for years in a bad climate. Just because the box is damaged does not mean the cards are. What is Steve suppoused to do open every pack to see if the cards are damaged. That is the risk of opening vintage packs. Its a lottery with far better odds.

Have them open every pack and see if they are damaged...are you trying to be funny??
I was simply stating my experience with BBCEX. Evidently I have had bad luck, not so much with what was pulled, but with the condition of the cards.
I have seen firsthand some great pulls from packs through BBCEX...I'm not trying to knock-em. I will continue to do business with them in the future.

Trying to complete 1960, '61 and '68 Topps baseball sets...raw
Interesting rip but nothing major outta the box sadly for me. I sort of got into this odd busting trance as I went through my packs. I was awed by how random (and sudden) the cards went from freshly cut and centered to coming out horribly miscut, dinged, gritty. Of course the collation was a hoot, although how come *my* run always has to be Dave Roberts->Terry Crowley->Tom O'Malley->Dave Van Gorder and not any of the stars in this set? And yet like a hopeless romantic my heart still skipped a beat every stupid time Joe Pittman flashed up, and his card doesn't even look like Gwynn's, I just get a peek at Padre and figure I'm due...alas.
So no Gwynn, but I did get a Boggs that would probably grade out at mean solid 3, thanks to being at the bottom of a badly thrashed pack. Best pull was probably a Ryan that should be a 9 and a Sandberg that's likely an 8.
PS I had also ordered just a few packs of 1983 Donruss and pulled the most gorgeous Sandberg I've ever seen...only to notice the most deafening of corner crunches. That hurt. Oh, and curiously enough Joe Pittman *still* looks like a Tony Gwynn card, even in Donruss.
You just had bad luck, jerrywest. Unfortunately a couple of the '75 mini packs from that rip that I got were warped cards, though there wasn't indication from outside the pack. But those are the breaks - I've also gotten a '85 Donruss box slightly worn from BBCE, but all cards were nice and yielded a decently centered Clemens. I have my '83 T box, but due to work travel haven't had a chance to bust it yet!
Good morning, So I have a question for those of you with more knowledge of this set than me. Are any of the below cards or something I've overlooked, worth submitting to PSA, in other words is there any Market ?
2 Ripken 7's or 8's 1 Seaver Maybe a 9 1 Ryan 7 or 8 4 Bench 1 Maybe a 9, 2 7's or 8's and 1 damaged 1 Jackson Maybe a 9 No Ozzie 1 Yaz 7 or 8 No Molitor No Winfield No Murray 2 Schmidt 1 7 0r 8, 1 Damaged
Thanks Neil

I agree, my rip went OK, overall nothing big.... Here are the highlights of the cards that were pulled..
Yes, the Gwynn has a big bend on the left side...
I really don't think I pulled any cards worth submitting to PSA.. I am going to go back and take a closer look..
