Good day, I would be interested in a Footbal Rip but need a couple of weeks before I can spend a bunch again. This Rip wasn't my only expense this weekend, too much fun on E-Bay this weekend.................. Neil
Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!
I just spoke with nam812, he and morgoth both picked up their 1983 boxes today at National, Steve actually had morgoth open the case. Nick(nam812) said the boxes are extremely clean, and Steve told him that he wasn't sure but he thought that in 83 they put a scratch off card in the packs that was actually up against the gum, so if that is the case we shouldn't lose any to gum stains. Steve will be shipping ours out on Monday or Tuesday at the latest.
I was too late to get in on this, but I bought a box (from a different case) from Steve Thursday. The gum is next to the scratch off card, so no gum stained cards. All of the cards were sharp, the only disapointment was no Gwynn. Did get 1 each Sandberg & Boggs.
Just got home from the National, and i'll be ripping my 1983 Michigan box this evening. Sorry I didn't bring my digital camera into the show for the case opening, but Morgoth (Jason) did break the seal himself, and Steve let us choose our own boxes. Steve asked me to thank all the guys, and said he is always happy to handle the money and do the shipping on any future rips we do. I will open the packs in lots of 12 and post results as I open them this evening, hopefully with cards good enough to scan for you all.
Wow, that was some pack! If only those cards could have been Gwynn and Boggs!!

Here's a cumulative of the first 12 packs. Not my best 12 packs, but 24 still to go. Lots of duplications so far. I have 4 of a card in some cases in just 12 packs. Maybe the guys with the Boggs/Gwynn boxes will get slots of them.

Here are the next 12 packs. Only 12 more to go. Im up to 7 Seavers now. Got a nice Ripken, and an OC Gwynn. The pictures under the stars are to let you see the horrible duplication in the box so far.
Well, my box is done, and the duplication was pretty funny. I have a lot of players that I have 11 and 12 each of, and 9 Seavers. Hopefully one of you guys has the box with 11 Gwynns and Boggs. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the pictures of your break, look forward to my box later this week.
WOW Nam, that is interesting coalation from that box... I have not ripped any 83 topps since well 1983.... Is this normal or some kind of Anomaly with the Michigan boxes...
I bet the Tom Burgmeier Registy collectors are licking their chops to get a hold of one of your pulls
Hey it was great to open the case and let me tell you it looked like it was 24 years old. Not from damage but just dust and other stuff that can find it's way into cardboard. I got in pretty late last night as it is a 5 hour drive to cleveland for me. I had to go to work today so no time to organize anything. Me and my dad ripped it at the National and actually drew a few onlookers who had never seen 83 Michigan packs. Only RC we got was a Gwynn and it had a bent corner. However, these cards for the most part are sweet and pristine. I would say over 70% are centered and with no wear. Duplication was bad but not as bad as Nam's was. You never get those 12 Gwynn RC's in a box it seems. I had bought a 85 Fleer box last week and we opened it the night before the National and my dad got a Pucket and Clemens RC in the same pack. Steve is super nice hopefully we can do this again. It would be fun to do this at the next big show that Steve's at and all rip at the same time.

I don't know if that was standard collation, but I do like the condition of many of the cards looks like there may be 5 or 6 10s just in the cards you show. Hopefully I will have a Gwynn or Boggs box.
I got mine tonight. The cardboard box was in terrible shape. It looked like the UPS driver used it as a stool. I opened it up, and the was box has some wear on the corners, and a couple good dents on the corners. How is everyone else's box looking? I was expecting a pristine looknig box, but mine is somewhat dirty and has wear on five of the eight corners. Just curious if that is how they come, or if mine got banged up in transit.
Mike, did you open your other 2 boxes? Mine showed up today and after opening the first box I now have to decide if I want a $360 NrMt 1983 set or if I should cut my losses and try and flip the other two boxes. Here are the highlights (actually the only stars) from Box 1, unfortunately they all have atleast one bad corner and the Gwynn has three.
Mike, the Gwynn looks great. Yeah there was some random damage in my packs as well. It is all Topps fault as the unopened case showed no signs of damage.

The centering was decent for the most part, and there was not much duplication, I am still debating on opening the other boxes I keep telling myself that there is no way I could have gotten three bad boxes.
Just finished the first box...2 Gwynns (9 and a 7 I'd guess), 1 each Ryno (8 or 9), Boggs (8), Ryan(8). Mostly Mint cards if centered. A couple 10-ish cards, but Garvey was the best.
Bottom of my box was wavy to match the top of HeritageAddict's box. No bugs. Probably stored in a hot warehouse at sime time, hence the waviness. I'll rip 'em all.
Still waiting on mine...condition of boxes seems worse than expected.

Just missed here, besides the lousy collation shown below an exciting trend almost emerged. The last 3 packs were almost all of the same guys including (2)Boggs RCs. Maybe somebody will get a box with 9 Boggs...
Well my second box was much better condition wise, centering and collation weren't quite as good, but I did manage to pull a pretty nice Sandberg and Rose. I'll put scans up a little later on. I'm going to see if I can make it through the weekend without ripping the last box, but I am a weak man.
