A coin with it's own Trading Card.
What will they think of next?

Very cool (kind of, I guess).

WOW what a neat idea! I just might do that with the coins I have. Just need some card/photo sheets for your inkjet and a graphics prog and you're all set. Excellent! image

    Eagles of America Trading Cards

Maybe not a game, but certainly someone can make up rules. It could be like Masterpiece, I guess, but instead of Picassos, you're selling an 1822 Half Eagle.

I just read about these in the eSylum newsletter - sounds pretty neat.

You have to scroll down about 1/3 to: UPPER DECK NUMISMATIC TRADING CARDS DEBUT

I can see these being everywhere at coin shows for the next few years as everyone is trying to complete their card set.

    Here was the press release:

Interesting the card says the 53-S is the key to the Franklin series.

To me, the idea is ridiculous... but there will be those that trip over their wallets to get these... and then, oooo oooo ooo a 'key date' card.... next, someone will be 'toning' the cards (i.e. photoshop)... where does the madness end? Cheers, RickO

I don't know about toning them, but I can see them being slabbed some day...

So, will they eventually make some Beanie Baby trading cards too?......oh right, that marketing promotion and escapade went down the tubes. I guess I would be interested in the prize cards, so I could win some REAL coins.

I guess I'm not completely against it. Who knows, maybe it will be an affordable way to attract kids to the hobby. They could buy coin trading cards and learn the "stats" about coins, maybe getting them interested in collecting the real thing. I'm just against what I'm afraid it will be marketed as....an excellent investment that will only go up, with the books to prove what prices will be in 5 and 10 years, ie Beanie Babies.
