I've got some coins at Pcgs now, hope I get a first strike 70.That would go for moon$.I read where they were not going to be grading any unc. silver eagles 70.
They have to start the MS 70's back up or it is dooms day.
Just Watch the bottom line on the next Quarterly Report as the Company takes a hit on Revenues.
1.) All because of the refusal to recognize and grade that First Day $1 Covers which have destroyed the First Day of Issue Market they thought they had.
2.) Because guys like me have COMPLETELY bypassed EVER even considering sending MS Silver to PCGS.
Think of the 1000's of coins sent to NGC because some 'brilliant' PCGS guy decided in advance that NO MS70 are possibile for Mint State Silver!
<< <i>Think of the 1000's of coins sent to NGC because some 'brilliant' PCGS guy decided in advance that NO MS70 are possibile for Mint State Silver! >>
We'll see. If hindsight shows that a bunch of NGC 70s are developing milk spots and NGC has to eat boatloads of them, PCGS will look pretty smart. If that doesn't happen, though, they lost a lot of business for nothing.
Hmm. I will believe it when I see them. They will probably run in the range of the proof 70's which they do give out and are also vunerable to spotting. So why the proofs and not the MS?

Maybe PCGS will grade MS70 for this year's silver eagles, but the jury is still out if they have all ready graded any!
I will justify my comment: I understand that the Population report is only updated once per week, but the day after the coin is recorded the population increase / decrease will show up in the set populations. Example: If you looked in the pop report under Kennedy for 1997-D in MS68 it shows a pop of 3 but if you check my set it shows a pop of 4. Monday evening, the population report will be corrected to read 4. So if you check out Mel's MS-69 Silver Eagle Collection you will see that PCGS has recorded no MS70 coins yet for the 2007 silver eagles.
Is PCGS still not going to grade MS70 on 2007 W Uncirculated ASE? I'm both PCGS and NGC members and I have a decision to make as where I should submit my coins. Thanks.

Hi Peter,
Effective June 28, 2007, PCGS will grade Mint State Silver American Eagles beginning with the 2006-W and future issues. I invite you to submit your coins to us.
A diplomat answers honestly. It says :'' PCGS will grade Mint State Silver American Eagles......
there is no claim that MS70 will be included in the grading
A bunch of us that had the MS69 in the sets and sold them, and they were worthy of a 70, got screwed. They had said before they wouldn't do a MS70 unless they knew a way to stop the milkspotting.....what has changed? Their guarantee on these? The milkspotting? Is it only the -W that are eligible?
That would make sense considering the mint considers the ASE bullion coins as not having numismatic value and does not give them any special handling as the 'W" collectors versions do. Hopefully this signifies they have addresses the milk spotting issue ASE's are notorious for. Several members reported the 2007-W ASE has a different finish from the 2006-W so this may be the case.

Ron's answer indicates they might be grading them. It doesn't prove your dealer scored some. As Tim noted, there are still no MS70's showing as graded.

I have to wonder if someone sends in a 2006-W PCGS MS69 silver eagle because he / she thought it should be a MS70 and the coin turns out to be a MS70, will they still have to pay the re-grading fee where PCGS REFUSED to grade the coin properly the first time!
I decided that I would submit only the best of my 07-W's for some possible 1st strike 70's,but after extremely close inspection only 2 would even have a chance.8 of the 10 had at least one or two miniscule frost breaks or minor friction on the reverse shield. If Pcgs does start giving the top grade they will be few and far between IMO.
NN reports 282,396 2007-W ASE's have been sold, 53,514 more than last week. Looks like it's well on it's way to surapassing the mintage of the 2006-W (~480,000).

I must say, PCGS is always a day late and always slow in coming up with ideas. It's like they are followers instead of leaders.
Starting MS70 17 days after the release of the product.
I look forward to the day when PCGS actually announces something BEFORE a products release and then sticks to the original statement. It really shouldn't be this difficult.

I'm more concerned with the mint actually producing a perfect coin more than I am with PCGS grading it as such. That's a big enough hurdle , isn't it ? Maybe PCGS can contract with the mint for "FIRST GRADES" , like NGC does with the ANA and COIN VAULT.
What is this attitude ? A race against time ? Can't wait to flip ?

You grade a coin at the Moment, as it is seen by the grader. Not on some future probability of a spot.

we all missed it except for a few. Even a seller on ebay is touting the MS70 grade as now possible for all coins in his 20th anniversary set.

Not trying to stir anything, just wondering
A coin cannot get graded MS70 on speculation.
It would first have to be in PCGS grader's hands.
