The 2007 non first strike shows no MS70's graded, and the 2007-W non first strike isn't showing up at all - unless they're using an out of sequence coin number for it.
<< <i>I must say, PCGS is always a day late and always slow in coming up with ideas. It's like they are followers instead of leaders.
Starting MS70 17 days after the release of the product.
I look forward to the day when PCGS actually announces something BEFORE a products release and then sticks to the original statement. It really shouldn't be this difficult. >>
I'm more concerned with the mint actually producing a perfect coin more than I am with PCGS grading it as such. That's a big enough hurdle , isn't it ? Maybe PCGS can contract with the mint for "FIRST GRADES" , like NGC does with the ANA and COIN VAULT.
What is this attitude ? A race against time ? Can't wait to flip ? >>
Concerning you last three questions.
1. I opened my Anniv. Gold Set. Thus, I have two coins FS and one NOT First Strike. If PCGS came out with the 'rules' earlier I wouldn't have opened the box. 2. I just sent my Silver coins to NGC. Some fine coins I must admit, maybe a 70. I wanted FS or Early Release, so I have 30 days. I would have rather had a PCGS 70 FS instead of a NGC 70, but PCGS was late, as usual.
I could go on, but it's one think after another with PCGS. Always a different story when talking on the phone and always changing the 'rules'.
There's no attitude here, I'm just bringing up the issue so they can attempt to correct the problem.
I love the boards for their open dialogue. Thank you Aficionado for your response. This gives PCGS a pulse to put a finger on and I am certain EYES are watching .
I sense a good attitude. I know it's not about the flip
I do not believe that Pcgs has changed their policy on grading A.S.E's as ms-70's.I talked to a customer service rep. a couple days ago and she assured me they had not decided to start giving out the ms-70 grade.
The announcement made by Coin King, said effective June 28th (Friday) they would start grading ASE' as 70 beginning with the 2006-W. I imagine this is why they did not grade any 70 ASE's last week as is shown in todays pop report and starting Monday, the ASE's would qualify for a 70 grade.

It's amazing that over in the questions forum it was stated not long ago that PCGS would not be grading any SAEs MS-70.
So those that submitted before the announcement that PCGS will offering the 70 grade, have essentially lost out or is PCGS just not handing out the 70's that easy. The pops have no 70's in them at all for the 2007 W's. PCGS should offer a refund or let those submitters resubmit their coins for possible upgrades. I am not one of them btw.
Right now there are only 12 coins graded 70 from all previous years. If they are going to give 70's I seriously doubt that it will be done with even a fraction of the generosity shown by ICG and NGC.
I just got my large shipment from the Mint today and will submit if PCGS has decided to change their policy on these again. Since the speculation began, no official word has been posted by PCGS so I'm not convinced yet. Time for PCGS to make some sort of official announcement to prevent anymore threads on speculation and rumors!!!!
I don't think they left it as a guessing game. Now I assume the coin would need to make the grade of course. They won't be handing these out like candy.

If they ever do give out a 70 grade it should help the NGC 70's, I would believe that the price would go high for PCGS MS70 and with so few around people will go for what some perceive as second best - NGC MS70.

Repeating bad information is not doing anyone any good. The ASE's went on sale on June 13th and per the First Strike guidelines, the designation is only available for coins shipped from the mint within 30 days of the initial sale date which makes the cut-off for the First Strike designation on the 2007-W Uncircilated ASE July 13th. Nothing a PCGS customer service representaive tells you will change that.

Once again since yiou seem to have a hard time understanding simple guidelines. The First Strike guidelines state very clearly only coins delivered within 30 days of the initial sales date qualify for the First Strike designation. Even the back of the insert says 'delivered within 30 days of initial release'.
<< <i>Beginning in 2005, PCGS began designating coins packaged and delivered by the U.S. Mint in the 30 day period following the initial sales date of a new product as First Strike®. For instance, new American Silver Eagles typically go on sale each January 1st, thus any coin packaged or delivered and submitted to PCGS for certification between January 1 and January 31 qualifies for the First Strike® designation. >>
I could care less what the customer service representatives told you, the guidelines are right there in black and white. No if and maybe or but. Not that hard to understand really.

If you guys were going to speculate on these and buy a box of 50 unopened coins & they qualify for First Strike (PCGS and NGC) - assuming you had the spare cash for it - what would you pay for such a box?
I really need some expert feedback on this since I have someone offering me a box and I was wondering what the going rate would be for a speculator. I'm assuming that a 2007 PCGS MS69 FS is going for around $50 and if PCGS do start grading them as MS70 it could be worth a lot more. So if I multiply 50 coins x $50 = $2500. Is that a fair evaluation?
That's what they are selling for at the moment for graded FS MS69s. Your grading fees and ebay/paypal selling fees will be about $1400 so you'll have to pay less than $1100 for the eagles to make profit.
So July 13th is the cut off for first strikes - does that mean that PCGS needs to receive the coins by July 13th or that the unopened box needs to have a date stamp prior to July 13th? In August will I be able to submit an unopened box to PCGS that was shipped to me on July 10th and still get the First Strike holders?
Last time I checked, opened sets needed to be postmarked by the cut-off in order to qualify for the First Strike designation. If the Mint box is left sealed and has a shipping date prior to the cut-off, it can be submitted at any time and qualify for the First Strike designation as long as PCGS receives it with the mint seal intact and you will need to pay extra if you want the display cases back

I don't see why not. Also, your invoice from the Mint inside the box has the date they were shipped so i would think as long as they were shipped before the cut-off it would qualify for the First Strike designation.

Actually you could NOT care less. The reps do not know what they are taking about half the time and/or get info mixed up, even email.
Not to throw gasoline on the fire, but I had this problem with the 2006-W plats. The rep told me one date, the web site had another. So I wound up shipping them in the sealed boxes because the rep was wrong. On my submission form, I explained this and stated that I should not have to pay extra for the return of the Mint packaging because of their misinformation. So when my coins were returned, I did not receive my packaging. When I called to ask about this, they said I had to pay to get it back. When I objected, the rep said he would look into it and call me back.
I'm still waiting for this call back!
I think I'll post this in the Q&A and see what the real answer is!
Edited to add: I posted this to the Q&A and if I get a response I will add the link.
I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff will be coming down for quite a while!

Yeah...I was looking at that for the 2007-W last night as well......thing is, Mitch and others are selling them and stating that they have shipped out......I HAVE to think they had more than 10 between them, so, if the pops update on Mondays, it is still WAY off.
Are they all going in as 1st strike? Less than 100 at a time means an extra $10 and some people may not want to pay that if they aren't reselling and just wanted it for their collection..... If so, is there a different item # to check?
