    John,

May I ask how this cent got clashed with a seated dollar? Really neat coin you have there. Thanks for posting.

The following is from the coinfacts website:

"Clashed die specimens may be the result of night watchmen at the Mint illegally experimenting with coin dies (these same watchmen were responsible for some 1804 Silver Dollar restrikes)."

There are actually 2 other Multi-denominational Clashed Dies
(Snow-7, 8, 9) for 1857 FE Cents. Seated Quarter die clash and double eagle die clash.

    Here's my S-8 1857 Clashed with a Seated Liberty 25c Variety ...

Jonathan, there are many stories and theories, but the most accepted involves some possible shenanigans or impaired on the job conditions for one Adam Eckfeld (?), the night man at the mint ... ohhh, to know (for sure) the real story of the 1857 clashes

Thanks to all who played. Some very awesome coins displayed in this thread. Keep posting if you have more! I'll never stop getting a kick out of die clashes.

What are some common die clash coins that I could get my hands on so I, too, could own one?

@USSID17 "Is it okay to resurrect this old thread like this one?"

Okay? I don't know of any written rules against it.
Forum etiquette may be something different.

Question is, why not start your own new thread?
The thread is 14 years old and most of the photos are gone and the OP has not logged on since 2015. :/

Yep... It is OK, however, as suggested, start a new thread with your coin. Nice clash.... Cheers, RickO

The "Lone Ranger" die clash on a 1913 Var 1 5c, so named by Bill Fivaz. This clash exists on many dates in the series.

I pulled this one from a bank roll. Die clash plus some type of feeded finger issue. I don't see one listed but I'm probably missing it.
