After nearly five years of hunting and trying, I finally nailed the 1965 SMS Kennedy in DCAM! Grade just posted - MS65DCAM.
This is where the coin started:
Cracked it out and submitted it, and it became this:
Sent it in for designation review, no change. Cracked it out and submitted it, and it became this:
Sent it in for designation review again, and now MS65DCAM.
Oh, and why do I love Marty? I picked it off from him in the NGC holder for $32. Thanks, buddy!

I'd say neither dumb nor not smart. I'd say smart. In their history, PCGS has granted the DCAM desigation to only 31 examples at any grade level. Over the past three years, these have risen significantly in value, and long term will likely continue to do so.

Third, for all those kool-aid drinkers out there, note that twice PCGS gave the coin higher grades than NGC did, and in one case a significantly higher grade.

No. It's a common misconception that DCAMs can have no frost breaks. Plenty do. The designation is more about the overall look of the coin then it is about minor breaks. Given a coin that has the exceptional mirror depth that PCGS requires as well as the white frost that they like, a minor break won't preclude the designation.

It just goes to show that persistence and a good eye will pay off in this game.
Here is my 65 in 65dcam - they are so tough to find in dcam - this one dates back to 2002.

He has not posted a pic of the 65DCAM holder. Most likely still being shipped back from PCGS.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Plug the cert number from the MS65CAM, (last image), in to the cert number lookup.

OK - so I'm learning... and I'm not sure I like what I'm learning. You guys are saying “persistence pays-off.” It seems coin grading is akin to gymnastics judging. And... like the sport of Boxing - maybe the easiest to “fix”.
So - a coin I have graded 65 is worth x-dollars, but graded 66 is 10x-dollars. This means if I could somehow “persuade” a PSGS grader to go “one-up” – I now have a coin worth 10x what I bought it for – just because of the “grade.” Same exact coin.
I am in no way saying I think this particular “deal” had any behind the scenes deals going on – but to this “fresh meat newbie" – coin grading sure appears to be an easy “fix”…
Correct me if I’m wrong…
Graders sometimes make mistakes. I like to help them correct those mistakes. It's just the kind of helpful guy I am.
