Coin shop vs. wife’s career
Just when I thought things were going well. My wife has been offered a HUGE promotion from her employer (the Boy Scouts of America). The problem is that they want her at the National office near Fort Worth Texas. This is one of those “you can’t say no to” opportunities. So, it looks like we will be moving to Texas. My partner will step up and handle the store here in Utah, and I guess I’ll find something to do in Texas. Anybody want to hire me??

<< <i>Fort Worth is just a hop, skip and a jump from Dallas. Try Heritage...they are always hiring. >>
Hey, it's the same airport
I second the sentiments to try Heritage. Or, perhaps you can open a second branch of your shop in Texas. You certainly increase your customer base, and more opportunities may come to the business as a whole with two offices far apart.

In my youth I was a Ski Patrolman in the winter and a flyfishing guide in the summer. My real job was as a Criminal Investigator. The coin thing has always been a advocation since 1962. Other than belonging to the ANA, running a sucessful coin shop, and a long list of references, not much.

I think you might want to continue the same association with the St. George shop and perhaps take advantage of the proximity to Dallas to do lot viewing regularly at Heritage's offices a little more leisurely before they pack up and fly to various sales. I know that would be my thing if I was you. Maybe also do a liason service for various buyers by personally screening and perhaps bidding as their proxy? If you know coins well and people respect your opinions on them, personal representation could be a lucrative and very fulfilling business for you.

Only takes an hour or two in a bar to find another wife.
What's most important to you?

seems to me your profession's tends to put you around bullets alot. what's up with that???
Good luck to you and Congrats to your wife. An internet store would be good and safe, since you can stay at home most of the time and out of the line of fire......
