Be careful with any assumptions... Pat is quite knowledgable about numismatics, does have a keen sense of humor, and is a MOST honorable person. I'll only assume that this will be quite interesting to watch.
1. the coin is in a first generation PCGS holder which has been the subject of previous AT threads. evidentally forum member Manofcoins and others were able to AT the coins while they were inside the holder. 2. the coin in the auction link appears to be one of those AT'd examples. 3. the seller is forum member Braddick. 4. Braddick has a self-admitted history of dabbling with coin doctors, most recently with former forum member Gmarguli. 5. the reasoning of the seller is that if the coin is "market acceptable" it's OK to sell it without any disclosure. 6. forum member Braddick has a habit of exposing other AT'd coins and coin doctors in threads at this forum. 7. since this thread was started, the seller(Braddick) has editted the auction, presumably to appear forthright concerning it's questionable nature while being benevolent and charitable, while the high bidder is Gmarguli and the attempt is most probably to protect the seller. 8. anyone who believes there's anything legitimate about this auction, the charity premise and the actions of the seller and current high bidder may be deluding themselves. 9. i would add that Braddick works in law enforcement in California, or at least he used to.

I have been trying to avoid reading pages upon pages of replies to this thread. Thanks for the summary.
Again, we tend to get up in arms about Ebay keyword spamming, but known AT coins do not seem to generate the same froth of frenziness as Ebay spamming threads.

The really funny thing after the link was posted last time it was selling and noticably at, i saw braddick won it. i point blank in the thread asked him if it was for his personal collection because he saw the thread and bought the at coin anyway. I got no response. Im glad i had to out him before he added the warning
So. are we talking about "respected" board members, "members held in high regard" "respected board members" " respected board members" "respected board members" or respected board members, respected board members respected board membersrespected board members board members held in high regard???????
I never can get it straight. They say it's how you write it I guess. Heh heh Oh, I'm thinking if those involved have a give-away of some sort, all will be well.
Please... Save The Stories, Just Answer My Questions, And Tell Me How Much!!!!!
This whole auction in question is a scam, and it seems weird that the seller would have the gall to show his face here after it ends. Charity?! I highly doubt it; but if that does happen, it will only happen to soothe his guilt ridden conscience. Doesn't PCGS have a right to pursue such obvious cases of tampering with their holders to produce these hideous creations?
The worst part is that the seller only indentifies it as a MOC coin. To the average collector on ebay this means nothing. what kind of disclosure is that?
<< <i>To the average collector on ebay this means nothing. what kind of disclosure is that? >>
Good point and good question. To anyone that isn't a member of this forum they'd have no way of knowing. Heck, they might even think an "MOC coin" is something prestigious and raises the value of the coin.
if Pat says it,s proceeds are going to charity,, than thats where the phuckin proceeds are gonna go,, all my personal dealings with him have been fantastic, and his word is goood enough for me, so chill out peeeps and smoke some weeeed
<< <i>if Pat says it,s proceeds are going to charity,, than thats where the phuckin proceeds are gonna go >>
I agree.
<< <i>all my personal dealings with him have been fantastic >>
All of my dealings with him have also been fine, but that doesn't automatically grant him a pass for selling AT'd coins. If he were a stranger to this forum he'd be getting torn a new hole right now.
i agree with you Russ, he isnt a stranger, but he,s not exactlly gettin rich either, as a matter of fact, he takes some fair losses on some of his auctions just having fun in a hobby he enjoys,,

Ditto. I think that if this coin is AT it was most likely AT'd while in the old rattler slab.
