in an NGC55 holder on an upcoming Heritage auction. I suppose there could be worse, but this is pretty bad...

I thought it was a 1918/7-D at first, but it clearly has an "S" mintmark. And that's about all that is "clear"! Maybe just a mistake ("mechanical error") by NGC on this one?

This is an excellent example of technical grading over market grading. NGC thought fit to tech grade this AU (choice a that!).

You have spoken that the market would never support this coin at AU prices.

Enough said.

That has to be a clerical error of some sort. No way that is legitimately in an NGC holder as AU.

Most of the circulated pieces look depressing...this one is no exception...but someone will buy it, after all...it's SLABBED AU 55!
